If worst comes to worst, find out what the name of the process is that is causing these popups in the first place. It is possible to create a program that will supress the process. The down side? It's more of a bandaid then a permanent fix

That's a neat little mechanic you've got there. Are the domains similar to clerical domains? If all the players have access to avatar abilities, then you don't really have to worry about ECL, other than in balancing encounters.

Or, you could make the Rogue affect those around the character negatively, while leaving the character wondering why no matter where he goes bad things happen to people.
