    Shifter...

You get the physical stats (Str, Dex, Cha, natural armor, etc.), "natural abilities" (undefined in the current rules), and extraordinary abilities (fortunately making the question about natural abilities irrelevant). As per the description of Wildshape in MOTW, you also gain racial feats and...

    roleplaying across the gender line

Actually, you are correct. There does not appear to be a difference in the way that attractive men and women are treated. I'm not a sociologist, so there may be some magic point of attractiveness where women aren't taken seriously (a "bimbo" effect?) -- and certainly one's culture or...

    Awakened Animals as Cohorts?

For awakened animals, I use (hit dice/2) as a starting point for ECL, as animal hit dice aren't worth very much in my experience. On the other hand, if you rule that awakening the animal changes its type to "magical beast", it should be more. Or, if you give skill points and feats for the...

    Yet another Shifter question...

If you put together such a list, I think it would be a good idea to post it to the boards -- (1) to get feedback and (2) because many of us would find such a list to be quite useful. Good luck!

The shifter Prc is it worth it??

I respectfully disagree. The FAQ is "rules" in that it is where all new errata goes. I have yet to see WOTC update any of the errata files after they've been released -- instead, the changes go into the FAQ. Personally, I don't like this approach, but that seems to be the way WOTC has chosen...

[Poll] More than one prestige class per character?

other I voted "other" as well. In my primary campaign, I allow players to take as many prestige classes as they can qualify for granted that they can convince me that it makes sense for their character. In reality, though, no one has yet taken advantage of this -- meeting the requirements for...

How does the Paladin stack up?

Re: Re: Re Actually, the FAQ is "completely official." That doesn't change the fact that it may be wrong. I certainly don't use all of it's rulings in MY campaign, but I think it's incorrect to call it "unofficial" -- for whatever reason, the FAQ is the vehicle that WOTC has chosen to...

    polymorph/shapechange/shifter/wildshape questions?

From the DND Master of the Wild FAQ: Q: Both the wildshape and greater wildshape powers require you to be familiar with the form you assume. Just how familiar is isfamiliarle for the purposes of shifting? Would fighting a creature qualify? Would just seeing it once work, or does familiarity...

The shifter Prc is it worth it??

I'm not trying to be argumentative but it doesn't "depend on the DM" -- unless you mean that the DM can change the rules any way he or she chooses. As far as I know, the DND FAQ is considered "official." Also, I'm not at all saying that the shifter is "underpowered," whatever your personal...

    Yet another Shifter question...

Re: Re: Yet another Shifter question... Actually, they do. From MOTW, p11, Wild Shape description: "The druid also gains all the racial bonuses and feats of the animal form selected." From MOTW, p69, Greater Wildshape description: "Greater Wild Shape works like wild shape with the...

How much starting equipment does a 6th-level cohort have?

Good answer! Well that would certainly inspire loyalty to the PCs...

The shifter Prc is it worth it??

Also, animal growth wouldn't work regardless because the shifter's type doesn't change.

The shifter Prc is it worth it??

According to the sage's "clarifications" you must have studied the creature for a day or fought it in combat True, the equipment choice is nice. But equipment alters to fit your form (if humanoid, giant, etc.) with Shapechange. Shapechange also gives you the "type" of the creature, and has no...

How much starting equipment does a 6th-level cohort have?

Out of curiosity, where do your PCs find these naked, penniless 5th or 6th-level NPCs?

    Drizzt Makeover

Well, that's a bit too harsh. After all, we can't hate everyone who plays a PHB ranger...

The shifter Prc is it worth it??

It depends on what you mean by "worth it" Yes, the class is slightly "weaker" than a single-classed spellcaster. However, it offers an interesting schtick and a great deal of flexibility. Pros: You have a very flexible power that gives you - stealth - disguise/social - movement - combat...

Impossible to keep prisoners tied up?

The errata'd Wildshape can be found at http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/dx20020202ex Unfortunately the errata'd polymorph has not yet found it's way into the SRD -- it is only available in Tome & Blood and in the Psionic's Handbook Errata. I agree -- I hate the fact the much of the...

Buff, Scry, Teleport... A problem or not?

IMC, this tactic doesn't work because scry doesn't give enough info for clear teleportation. I don't consider this a house-rule so much as a clarification of existing rules. From the SRD: and So IMC, scrying can give you information on the target (what he's doing, saying, etc.), but not so...

Impossible to keep prisoners tied up?

Even if your supposition about how spell-like abilities is true (and I'm not certain I agree with that), I have to point out that Wildshape is no longer based on Polymorph Self -- the description in Masters of the Wild does not refer to that spell at all.

Wild Shape and Greater Wild Shape

Try to talk your DM to allow you to get subtype abilities. According to the Sage's rulings, you gain neither type nor subtype -- which means that turning into something with the fire subtype could kill you (if, for example, you turn into a salamander, you'd have it's extraordinary "burn"...
