    Words you learned through D&D

I've learned English language (as one can see not good enough) thanks to D&D. When my first DM abandoned a game, he left me AD&D PHB, DMG, MM and FR's 'Dalelands' and 'Cormyr'. There was communist occupation in Poland still. I ran away from school to some restaurant with this books and English...

How easy do you find it to adjust the advancement rate in D&D?

13-20 am, so around 6-8 hours. One level per nine sessions seems very very slow*. Do you have any problems (as a DM) with treasures distribution? Do you give to the PCs something in lieu of XP? * My friends play Warhammer with the same PCs from more than 5 years. They simply don't advance at all.

How easy do you find it to adjust the advancement rate in D&D?

Main team of my PCs gains a level once a four game sessions. It's slow, but I give them 1 free skill point for every session to assign on skill they used (they still cannot have more than maximum availabe ranks). My 'Red Hand of Doom' PCs advance every game session, because we make one chapter...

Art Comparison from Tome of Magic

Inspiring art. Thanks for a link. Imho 'Tome of Magic' is WotC's book of the year. Pact magic is a ready main theme for new campaign.

Fast advancement in Age of Worms and other campaigns

I find level advancement in D&D both too fast and too slow. It's nice to gain new level, so I want to do this every game session. But I know that too fast advancement means quick end of the story, because my PC reaches 20th level and DM will end a campaign. Maybe there will be more than 20...

    Catapults & Trebuchets!

You can find more about siege weapons in Wikipedia. In the "Heroes of Battle" there are siege weapons rules, but I find it complicated and historicaly inacurate. In the future release of The Forge "Barony" there will be game mechanics for flame (greek/alchemist fire) throwers, cauldrons and...

    Tome of Magic - Shadowcaster

Can you post basic statblocks of this elf? The shadow magic users are main bad guys in the main campaign I DM, so I need many NPC on various class and levels and I'm particulary interested in your combo ideas. Three new branches of magic! This is what I like in ToM. In many many adventures and...

    Tome of Magic - Shadowcaster

I made a 10th level shadowcaster wizard noctumancer shade elf and started to play last week. He specializes in fighting enemy spellcasters because of noctumancer's special counterspell-like abilities. I agree, this class is not as powerful in combat with non-spellcasters as eg. wizard. I...

How to Upgrade My Magic Item?

I'm not happy with magic items with abilities set in stone. No name, no history, just maths. It's like sex without love, nice, but I want "to marry" my magic items :). I wonder of magic item "with souls" that can be upgraded when I advance at new level thanks to my heroic deeds, god's will, rare...

What did real medieval mines look like?

Wieliczka Salt is interesting for dungeon building, because: - when lit from the other side it become semi-transparent - salt is in folklore considered a ward against demons etc. - there can be a lot of monsters variansts e.g. salt golem, salt dragon with salt breath weapon etc.

Tales of the Caliphate Night - a question

I want to play a sha'ir. I like the idea of this class, but imho AD&D sha'ir was unbalanced and (worst!) unplayable, because he has too high level spells but too many rounds after his death in combat. Can I find a sha'ir class in this book? -> pdf at EnWorldGameStore What is True20, this is...

Elf, Myth Drannor, War - what class?

Bard for a war? I won't have a PHB2 at next monday (it will be tomorrow). Eldrich is good choice for an elite soldier of Cormanthor elves. Any other ideas? Which clesses and feats are good for elven archer?

Elf, Myth Drannor, War - what class?

It will be single game session only at new DM. His old PCs are 10th level group including all four "core" classes. The PCs will fight monsters to liberate Myth Drannor for elves again. I will be elven "warrior" in this war. What class(classes, templates) you advice to play? Specify the...

How often are prestige classes allowed & used?

When a PC gets prestige class, it can be big change in his life. It's interesting (maybe the most interesting ever) theme for an adventure. When I simply take prestige class first time after advancing a level (without any adventure, training etc.) I feel it is a wasting of best ideas.
