    D&D 5E (2014) Free5e on Kickstarter

From the Kickstarter: "Multiple accessible formats: Accessible dyslexia-friendly PDF, ePub, digital braille (BRF), audio, markdown, plain text with CSV tables, docx, what else do you need?" Really, this is a wonderful idea to make the hobby more accessible. Best of luck to them.

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

I think that my main issue is that the PF2 system isn't interesting enough to me to last a year, covering the first 6 levels of play. The tactical play isn't enough, and probably no system could be. When we do skill checks, it's just everybody rolling until one of the players gets a high enough...

What makes a TTRPG purchase "worth it" to you?

My mentality of collecting was shaped on FOMO. Now that PDFs typically stay available for purchase for years, I'm learning to not collect things I don't intend to play soon. I recently had to back off on getting Shadowdark and realize that the Starter Set PDFs would be sufficient for my gaming...

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

Ever sense the pandemic, about 3-4 hours is the longest I can go. Sometimes closer to 2, especially on VTT.

After we get settled in, we have about 3 hours of solid time each week.

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

To be fair, these are all different groups and systems, each with things I like and dislike. I guess I stick with them because I like the company of the players and socializing. I also hold out hope that I can fix things, especially when I think some issues are due to my perception.

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

The GM is very strict with the rules, and in Pathfinder 2, those are bad for improvisation, because there are rules for everything. Theoretical example: Say I want to climb onto a ledge to kick a flaming brazier on the surrounding cultists. That's one action to move to the ledge, one action to...

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

I like the group. And I have talked to him about my boredom, especially with my character. He's tried to respond by giving me some magic items with utility, so I can shake things up. But the thing with PF2 is that such items are so underpowered and of limited use, they barely make an impact.

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

No. Ruins of Azlant. And the past 6 months, it's felt like a series of side quests working for the colony leaders.

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

I don't mind games with "tactical depth," but they're not enough to hold my attention for a year. It's the same reason I don't listen to only Rush. Playing the same character in PF2, going from scene to scene has basically been listening to "Tom Sawyer" on repeat. We have roleplaying, sure...

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

I'll admit it: I'm a bad player. Too many years of being a "Forever GM" has made me accustomed to playing multiple characters, controlling the pace of the game, shaping the story when necessary, adding complications, etc. As a player, I don't have enough to do, and my interest wanes. Also, we're...

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

Wow. I came in here expecting to see "WotC quietly scrapped this project." Good for them that this got finished. I mean, I haven't heard anything about it, but I guess there's some people getting it.

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

After reading the article (from EnWorld) more closely, it seems the $1bn includes video game projects too, so I'll edit it to "a large amount" in my post. I think the points are reasonable because they largely demonstrate a lack of focus. For example, if your market studies show that most...

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

Right. And the number that could afford to buy and shutter a film studio at a $3.5 billion loss. And the number that would try to revoke their game license and then revise it and then backtrack. And the number that would start development on a VTT and lose around $1 billion. Edit: a large...

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

True. But it seems to be unique to Hasbro in the TTRPG space.

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

Hasbro just loves to waste money by starting with a bold vision under one executive and having the next one scrap it. Look at eOne and the D&D streaming channel with original content. They are throwing stuff at the wall and seeing if anything sticks. Nothing has so far.

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

I hope everyone will continue to enjoy their exclusive Project Sigil dragon miniatures for preordering the deluxe DND Beyond Core Rules sets.

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

Likely they realized that DND Beyond was a better return on investment and will let Sigil evaporate into the Gleemax realm.
