    Deadlands: Lost Colony (SWADE) Post-Mortem

I have not. But I assume it's like how Savage Rifts is a simplified version of Palladium's or Savage Pathfinder is simplified of Paizo's.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Marilith Is Far More Bestial In 2025

I started playing in AD&D 2nd edition, when demons and devils weren't what they used to be - and before they were brought back in 3rd edition. I didn't know what a marilith was. My first encounter with one was a horrifying moment in . There was a handcrank-operated lift that descended a...

    Deadlands: Lost Colony (SWADE) Post-Mortem

One of the challenges in using that system with this group is that they are baked in "trad gaming" paradigms. I'll give an example with one of my recent dramatic tasks - breaking into the space station labs to recover the McGuffin. Player C: I'd like to use Athletics to climb past an obstacle...

    Deadlands: Lost Colony (SWADE) Post-Mortem

In our last session, just to try to speed to a satisfying and energetic resolution, I went with the following encounters: 1. Dramatic task - sneak into the lab of the space station and recover the McGuffin. [Was fast and a lot of fun.] 2. Combat encounter - an optional combat to have one last...

    Deadlands: Lost Colony (SWADE) Post-Mortem

No. I have Shadow of the Demon Lord, but the grimdark feel turned me off. Weird Wizard would be a possibility, but at the same time, I know this group has "system fatigue" and just want to play something familiar. I've had a few other experiences with SWADE. Overall, it's been a mixed bag. I...

    Deadlands: Lost Colony (SWADE) Post-Mortem

True. They did grasp D&D 4E much easier - though I think its system is more uniform in its presentation while SWADE has many disparate subsystems. Part of the difficulty could also be that SWADE is so unique in its resolution mechanics. We can compare it to other popular systems' resolution...

    Deadlands: Lost Colony (SWADE) Post-Mortem

Maybe had I slowed everyone down at the beginning and really "taught" it properly. Maybe had we not had gaps between sessions due to the external factors I mentioned. Maybe if we were playing in a setting like Pathfinder that I felt more comfortable to grok and that we better understood the...

    Guns & Gears Remastered Review

It wasn't the easiest to find, but the errata is listed under "Guns and Gears" Remaster Errata on their FAQ. https://paizo.com/pathfinder/faq

That will make my wife happy. She is using Pathbuilder on a Fire tablet.

    Deadlands: Lost Colony (SWADE) Post-Mortem

As is my tradition, each time a game ends, I try to learn from it. This time I'm looking at the Deadlands: Lost Colony with Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE) and our 6-session campaign experience with it. About the Group Player A: my wife, a power gamer who likes butt kicking and...

    Guns & Gears Remastered Review

When I play in person, I definitely prefer print. You can easily pass a book, send it home with a player, and a lot of these PDFs are just bad to use (granted some of this is because of my computing power, which I need to remedy).

    Guns & Gears Remastered Review

I've managed to avoid the Apple ecosystem thus far, so I'm hesitant to start at this stage in life. I may look into some Android tablets.

    On warning points...

Ultimately, we're all responsible for how we respond to each other on here. No one can "troll" a person enough to make them get banned. If someone is trolling you, you have it in your power to ignore them.

    Guns & Gears Remastered Review

Yeah, I bought the physical book from my local game store. And sure, I can just look up what I need from Archives of Nethys now. Like I could with the 2.0 stuff before the revision. In either case, I feel like a sucker for buying the physical book at all. This kind of rapid "mid-edition"...

Level Up (A5E) Eberron and Level Up?

Next week we're going to have Session 0 and character creation for our first Level Up campaign, which we want to do in Eberron. For the races that don't have corresponding heritages in LU (such as warforged), would it be best to just remove the stat increases? I'd probably need to come up with...

Pathfinder 2E Why are all the magic items so boring?

I don't enjoy it. I would prefer items to be integrated better as a part of the character and be useful for long stretches of time: Bilbo and Sting, Drizzt and Guenhwyvar, Han and the Falcon. Having equipment that you just "throw away" kills the story and is a wasted opportunity.

    Guns & Gears Remastered Review

I have two from MCDM ... 256.9 MB, 172.6 MB. I might be able to get low res versions. Exploring Eberron is 67 MB. Fateforge is 172.9. Most 13th Age books are in the 100 range. Call of Cthulhu Starter Set Adventure book is 149. But my machines also struggle with Level Up PDFs, which are around...

    Guns & Gears Remastered Review

The main thing holding me back from fully adopting PDFs is that the files are usually enormous and they cause my tablets and computers to freeze when trying to read them, regardless of my device. If anyone can recommend a great device upon which to read PDFs, I'd welcome the suggestions.

    Guns & Gears Remastered Review

I understand that. I instead picked up the books in PDF. They seem good quality. To me, it's not worth the $75 and $33 shipping to get them in print. Paizo, WotC, and even Troll Lord Games are releasing books at premium prices with only marginal changes to the books I purchased a few years ago...

    Guns & Gears Remastered Review

At this price, purchasing an updated book of something I already owned (and never used), I just can't justify it, even from a collector's standpoint. (D&D is also bad. Yesterday, I backed out of ordering print copies of two Keith Baker's Eberron books that were $75 a pop and $33 shipping. I...
