    Gamers in NC speak up!

Search is only available if you're a community supporter, or if you subscribe to it individually. I'm in the Asheville area. I pretty much stick to D&D and d20 games. I DM some, but play most of the time. I'm a player in a weekly Sunday afternoon game, and when TV schedules permit I game...

Amazon World's Largest Dungeon - SOON!

Sooo... maybe we'll see this in time for the winter holidays. Haven't e-mailed for the status of mine, but I ordered on September 1st and it's still showing a shipping estimate of September 7th. Though if Amazon is saying their supplier doesn't know when they'll have more, I very much begin to...

    Two Person Board Games?

Hoyle puts out a computer board game collection every year, mostly of two player games. The one I have (from 2003) includes Mahjong, Gravity Tiles (a 1 player game), Double Cross (Scrabble I think), Word Yacht (Yahtzee with words; haven't tried it), Wordox (or maybe this one is Scrabble)...

Amazon World's Largest Dungeon - SOON!

I'm not bothered about apology discounts or the like, I just hope they don't run out before they fill all of the orders.

What should my next WotC purchase be?

In that case avoid the miniatures. They have a way of making a lot more money disapear than you expect. Can't really comment on the rest of your list, since I almost never buy WotC products when they first come out, but if Expeditious Retreat's Magical Medieval Society book interests you, it's...

    2005 D&D Monsters Calendar

Granted it's not the best-looking calendar ever published. However, I was glad to see a D&D calendar being published, as it's been ages since there's been one available at all. Even though I'm ambivalent about the look of the thing, I'm tempted to buy two or three copies just to increase the...

Know any good Combat Flight Sims?

I haven't played it myself, but there's a fan-produced Babylon 5 space sim game available here.

    2005 D&D Monsters Calendar

Was browsing through the calendars section at Books-A-Million tonight when I stumbled across a 2005 D&D calendar. Hadn't seen any mention of it here, so I thought I'd pass the info along for anyone who might be interested. It looks like it has 12 months of monster pictures, plus an extra page...

Being a rant about the sorry state of my roleplaying existence

Wow. After all that I'm surprised you still want to play D&D again. Welcome aboard, and best of luck finding a better group to join.

    Suggestions for building a website?

If you're gonna make websites, please, please, please test them in something besides just IE before you release them into the wild. In fact if your websites are for government organizations of any kind you may need to test them in a text-only browser in order to meet with accessibility...

    The New News Digest Page.

Actually having these labelled was my favorite thing about having scoop credits again. I was curious to find out who was frequently tooting their own horn.

World Game Day anyone doing anything?

Me and a couple of the guys from my group are going to one of the official events over in Johnson City, TN since neither of the local gaming shops are participating. I think we're playing in the Eberron adventure. Not my first choice, but at least I can say I've tried it now when I say I don't...

For DMs, define "winging it" and give examples

Probably the best adventure I ever ran I came up with on about an hour's notice. I was out of town visiting a friend and had been planning to run a d20 Modern session for a few members of the group he usually DMs D&D for. This was the weekend between x-mas and New Year's, so I was told to...

    Writing Adventures

Yeah, definitely works best in campaign play when the DM knows the players and their characters pretty well. Tends to fall apart pretty badly in dungeons though.

    world-buildng: naming deities

Shouldn't Integra be the goddess of honesty, since "integra" sounds so close to "integrity"? And where's Allegra, goddess of pollen and suffering? :) One technique I've sometimes used for character names is to pick a few words that best describe the character and then go trolling through...

    Writing Adventures

The RPGA offers this Guide to Adventure Writing. I'm not much of an adventure writer myself. I tend to have a broad idea of the situation and a few appropriate stat blocks handy in case a fight starts, but otherwise I prefer to wing it as much as I possibly can.

Erik Mona appointed EIC of both Dragon & Dungeon!

Hey Erik, you're (more) famous. Sci-Fi Wire picked up the news under the headline: Paizo Makes Masthead Changes.
