Dragonborn - will you ban them?

The drakkon (?) race from the Wizardry series is probably the best example, given how much inspiration Wizardry takes from D&D. Aren't Laguz essentially the same as D&D's shifters?

New Design & Development: Paladin Smites!

The paladin's purpose is to sword things in the name of his/her god and thus only draws the god's attention (and favor) when swording things. I don't find that outside the realm of verisimilitude.

    Will you buy 4th edition?

Given how much I already know about 4e and how much I will know by the time the books are released, calling it "sight unseen" would be an exaggeration, but, yes, I do intend at this time to buy at least the PHB as soon as it is released.

Dragonborn - will you ban them?

Can't say for sure until I see the book, but, at this time, I see no reason not to give the scalies a shot.

    D&D 4E D&D 4e Feat Name Generator

    Hehe. "Crafty Spider Expert."

    Renaming the AoO

I was going to vote for free attack, but Emerald Phoenix Initiate Reactive Crystalwing Attack is much more flavorful. :P But I don't have any problem with "opportunity attack," which seems to be used alternatively with attack of opportunity in the 4e previews.

    On The Horrible Naming

But Leaping Panther Strike is better than both.

Hey, WotC: Give Dwarves their Darkvision Back

Agreed. There are too many interesting encounters that become a non-issue when even a single PC has darkvision. Plus, 3.X gave too many creatures darkvision (all aberrations, constructs, and outsiders).

To ALL ENWorlders: Did you play 1E AD&D?

Never. I came into the game shortly before 3.5 and never had the desire to play any earlier incarnations.

Into the New World, Chapter 1: Amongst the Verdant Towers

"Such recklessness already," Cleyra remarks under her breath, sighing. But...she is right. And that honesty may prove valuable.

    New Design & Development: Feats

I find it most interesting that, beyond tier, none of these feats have prerequisites. I also like how easily summed up all of these feats are (just one or two short sentences without pedantic explanation). As such, I hope these examples are indicative of feats in general.

Into the New World, Chapter 1: Amongst the Verdant Towers

Cleyra tries her best to listen carefully to each word of the story. Under different circumstances, she thinks, this would all be very interesting, but at the moment, I just don't see the relevance. She left home intending to embark on an adventure, yet now she finds herself listening to these...

    Bloodied

Like the rule/concept; hate the name. Voted "Good."

Into the New World, Chapter 1: Amongst the Verdant Towers

Cleyra follows Enko's example, taking one cake for herself. Even after the walk, she hasn't quite regained her hunger since breakfast.

    D&Ders: Medical Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants.

A nursing student is the closest I've come to any of the above. I've had the pleasure of playing D&D with more artists than scientists.

    Design & Development: Quests

There isn't much of a real difference. A written reminder is almost exactly what this is, but this suggestion provides a bit more formality to it. A consistent format. I like it; in fact, these "quest cards" are something I wish I had thought of years ago. Yeah, it's MMORPG-derived, but that...

Into the New World, Chapter 1: Amongst the Verdant Towers

Cleyra ponders for a moment upon the question. She has many reasons, some more personal than others, but it was only at her mentor's advice that she decided to join the expedition. I can't say I'm here because I believe they need me. I want to seem trustworthy, not pretentious. Better give...
