    Some quick sketches

My players get a kick out of my "quick sketches" I do for my games, so I thought I'd share. The first two are of the adventure area: the Kingdom of Adelot, One of which I did in ink the other with colored pencil, the 3 towns are very quick sketches so that I'd know where the PC's were while...

    Bragging Rights!

(Dude, you won already! you can stop doing that now :) Thank you for the countless hours of enjoyment. Thank you for the distractions from the real world. Thank you for giving us a way to step into worlds of magic and wonder. Thank you for giving us a way to live out grand adventures we...

Does anyone know where I could get a quality, cheap battlemat?

Not cheap initially, but not a bad idea: STAPLES has a large pad (about 24"x36", probably 50 sheets) of 1" grid paper for ~$25. No worries about staining, cleaning or damaging the vinyl, so the DM can lay out a large full-color encounter map weeks in advance.

    Describe Kobolds in Your World

I've always liked the big-eyed, stumpy bodied Kobolds from the AD&D 2e "Monsterous Compendium". The scrawny, lizard-kobolds just don't have the same misleading appearance of harmlessness. As for their lairs, I always thought of something like the "Viet Cong Tunnels" idea, but among...

Are Your Games Rated G, PG, R, X, etc.?

Rated R+ for stark reality and graphic violence. Sex and relationships have their place in making the game "real", but they are never role-played out other than to say "you take the maid back to the inn" or "she gets up, gets dressed and leaves", most of my players are educated adults and have...

    Dealing with Player Cheating

An excerpt from my little black book of "House Rules": "Cheating If a player is ever found to be purposefully cheating (“fudging” die rolls, loaded dice, lying about a character’s abilities, looking at the DM’s notes, etc.) he or she will be immediately and permanently expelled from this and...

    D&D 4E What I'd Like to See in D&D® 4e

The elimination of LEVELS. --An 85 year-old 25th-level librarian should'nt be able to kick anyone's butt, much less a 1st level fighter's... Having the characters advance through proficiency and experiences according to the actual events of their lifetime. Many of my friends agree that...

Campaign map finally come together - feedback?

But it isn't hand drawn! Very, very impressive nonetheless! Consider it officially on my list of excellent examples of computer-generated fantasy artwork (of which I think there is very little). I'm putting this in the cartography file of my "favorites" folder to show to whomever I need to...

    New Map: Drogan Isle

I've said before that I'm not fond of computer-generated maps for a fantasy setting, but this is one of the styles I think works exceptionally well. I've seen a few like this, but I think yours is my favorite so far. I am terribly jealous that it only took you eight hours to come up with a...

Would YOU want a book of hand-drawn maps?

---I don't need map techniques, I have my own thank you (but thanks for the excellent reference links). Of course, while my style was attained through literally years of evolution and researching maps drawn throughout history I could never seem to reproduce the old styles accurately, so rather...

I'm working on a book and I need your input!

I have a related thread on the "General RPG discussions" board. Check it out HERE to see what other people are wanting for this product. We'll be releasing this as a .pdf sometime in late Spring/early Summer barring any unexpected delays. Please keep the ideas/requests coming, I will be using...

Would YOU want a book of hand-drawn maps?

Getting the quality of Dungeons of Doom isn't a problem (thanks for the reference). Cartographer Ed Bourelle does do decent work, but his drawings are digital while mine will be by hand, making any comparison difficult (being unrelated styles). If you meant you wanted the complexity and...

Would YOU want a book of hand-drawn maps?

JoeGKushner: I've seen a sample of it, and I wasn't going that route at all. Kenzer's book is mainly "treasure maps" in player handout form that are basically illustrated riddles. I'm to be releasing maps of adventure sites for the GM, with the occasional player's handout for those sites...
