Damage through the roof? Nay I say. 4x Empowered Magic Missle takes a 9th level slot. Can do an average damage of 52.5 [(5d4+5)* 3] to a single target and allow no save. Meteor Swarm also takes a 9th level slot. Can do an average damage of 84 (24d6) to a single target with no save.

So what is the diffence between the non-move stuff of a Standard action and the Partial action? Forgive any ignorance. While WotC seemed to simplify alot of thing they made combat complicated IMO.

The Highten Spell metamagic feat raises a spells actual level. How high does it raise it? As high as you want? I think it is as high as you want and can but wanted to be sure.

So how a about a ring of continous true strike then +20 to hit isn't bad from one item. Or is there a rule I'm overlooking?

I vote for Bruno. The current DM's retired char from 1E. Killed Demogorgon on his home plane by breaking a staff of the magi. Put Asmodeus in a Spirit Wrack. It was a long running high level campaign with a good bit of magic items that you had to work your ass off for.
