    Riding an invisible mount?

I would vote for the -2 situational. While you don't look at your mount for overland movement, you would while getting off or trying to spur it to do something, controlling it in battle.... ie all the things that actually require checks. I wouldn't get rid of the -2 either, if you have ranks...

    Knight's Move spell

I agree with Darklone. Flanking, the combat condition, is a condition of the attacker not the defender. So the ability to flank (or at least be in a flanking position) would be independant to a defenders ability to not be flanked.

    PHII Knight and Defensive Sweep

Yes, the knights do add thier class level to Tumble DC's (Vigilant Defender) at 5th level.

    PHII Knight and Defensive Sweep

I'm curious what people here think the interaction between these two abilities are. Knight's Bulwark of Defense (EX): If an opponent begins its turn in a threatened area, the area is difficult terrain to him. (paraphased, full text on p 28) Defensive Sweep: If an opponent you threaten doesn't...

Critique my tactic: Rogue + Invisibility + Fireball

Ultimatly the only way to acess the usefulness would be to try it, or ask your DM. There are too many factors to account for to give a meaningful give an analysis. You have the possibility of your rogue standing in the middle of some injured (or possibly not injured if they have fire...

    Shades, and Mages Magnificent Mansion...

I haven't seen a real good answer for this either. I'd probably allow it to work normally, you might notice it as not real, but it still supports you and feeds you and protects you from the environment. Other examples: Shadow Conjuration (sor/wiz 7) used to create Wall of Iron, Secret Chest...

    Cover while Riding?

I would expect most DM's to put a limitation of once per round, in spite of what Rotg or FAQ say.

    Cover while Riding?

It was the rule in 3.0, and was made a variant rule in the 3.5 DMG. It created wonky situations where a wizard AC12 uses his horse AC 14 for cover, the attack roll of 15 misses because of the additional +4 ac but wasn't enough to hit the horse. So it would hit the wizard instead...

    Sword & Shield Fighter build

In PHII also consider the classes. Knight For defense, Duskblade for damage. Both make good sword and board builds. The shild spec and shield ward feats are exceptional as is, and even better for the knight who gets bonuses applied to the shield anyway. Outside duskblade, I haven't seen much...

    Light sources near and far.

Or if there is obscurement due to some other effect, dust, rain, fog, magical darkenss. If you are talking large distances, a quarter mile 1320 ft, you might need to make a spot check to see someone inside the light radius.

    Falling speed

You fall 500' first round and 1000' every round after that. Per sage, and calculations come close to that. Similar discussion can be found here: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=179811 There was a wide range of numbers because there are falling speed records of people TRYING to fall...

Movement in an Illegal Space + Invisibility/Darkness

This would be fine IMHO, as long as the PC didn't stop in the square and then attempt to cast or attack.
  14. T

Movement in an Illegal Space + Invisibility/Darkness

No. If it or you are in combat you are moving around too much to share a 5' square. So if it stops in your (invisible) square and then tries to attack, he finds the square not valid and gets shunted. You are SOL if it then takes the 50% miss chance to attack your square instead. If you were...

At what distance do you start making Listen checks?

Note that if one party is explicitly not trying to move silently, ie talking or singing the dc to hear them is 0 (armor check wouldn't modify that).

At what distance do you start making Listen checks?

I almost said that then I made sure I read ALL of what he said. He used the result of a rolled 20, and didn't say anything about automatic sucess.

At what distance do you start making Listen checks?

First average chance of sucess sounds good (as a house rule), with all parties taking 10 on thier checks. ie, heavily armored person in group #1 with a net -4 move silently, the group #2 with a person with +9 listen. If they both roll 10, it's 6 vs 19, so at 130' is your first listen check. I...

    Ethereal Poles, Insta-Gibbing, and You

As mentioned, you can't target a 'Head Shot'. Also as mentioned the normal rule when becoming material in occupied space is you get shunted off. So in this case the pole would be shunted and take at most 1d6 or possibly the appropriate improvised weapon damage but probably not even that. You...

Movement in an Illegal Space + Invisibility/Darkness

Actually note that the invisible character can step aside and allow the person through, just like moving through an allies space. So the 'kick-back 5ft' doesn't come into play unless you actually stop in the occupied square. At that point you get bumped back and you know something is up. That...
