    D&D General Limiting Utility Cantrips

they are still too weak even with scaling, 4d10 at 17th level is complete rubbish and probably a waste of action, might be better to take a Dodge action to safeguard any concentration spell you have. 22 damage at tier4 is a joke, it's like d4 at 1st level. It's only in the game to make casters...

    D&D General Limiting Utility Cantrips

maybe better solution would bi similar to 5E24, pick a skill, but instead of +d4 you get advantage, that keeps you inside your competence level, max roll is still 20 not 21-24, but you increase your average roll. It's fits as guidance is just getting Help action from a spell and not another...

D&D 5E (2014) What is the Deal with the Twilight Cleric?

isn't a part of adventuring Macgyvering stuff that makes your adventure easier?

    D&D General Limiting Utility Cantrips

guidance is a low level gimmick to have better chance to disable traps or climb a rope. It's not a reactionary spell, you cannot use it after a check is called, you need to plan for the check in advance. Also it has V components so it might ruin your stealth. sure cleric can spam it 24/7 to...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

This just more or less turns every monk weapon into finesse weapon, and with TWF you are NOT adding your ability mod to damage with off hand attack. you have 5 attacks by then, stun is ONCE per turn, how many attacks do you need to land a single blow? now if the feat gave a fighting style and...

    D&D General Limiting Utility Cantrips

might as well delete the warlock then, EB is like 80% of the class, unless hexblade.

    D&D General Limiting Utility Cantrips

ok, but it's a NPC cantrip. cant see anyone playing taking it. also if your wizard is spamming cantrip round after round, you are luckiest DM ever. who cares about that pitiful amount of damage?

    D&D General Limiting Utility Cantrips

probably that people who think that cantrips are OK feel that there is nothing to add here.

    D&D General Limiting Utility Cantrips

it's a good idea, but I would never take it. in reality you have little cantrip slots at early levels. 3-5 maybe. why take one of those in hope that you will be able to prevent someone to do 4 damage on average? and it cost a reaction, a reaction that can be used on shield, absorb elements...

    D&D General Limiting Utility Cantrips

since Mage hand is a thing in a setting all traps have minimum of 11lb of trigger weight/pull/push. also mage hand has always been replaced by goblin-on-a-rope for traps. damage cantrips are mostly trash tier. at 5rth level they become decent, but then you have better usage of your Action in...

D&D 5E (2014) What is the Deal with the Twilight Cleric?

wait for various shield lanterns, helm lanterns, shoulder lanterns, hollow out maul that is a lantern...hmm, this actually might work and it might give bonus fire damage, same for mace, morningstar, warhammer(might actually work on this one more)

you do not get dex to that damage. that is why you need fighter 1 edit: @mellored beat me to it.

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

that feat is so bad, I would rather pull my own teeth than take that feat.

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

you mean 11th level monk/ 1st level fighter?

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

had level 14 fighter/rogue 1 with the broken craven feat. sneak attack on every crit, 15-20 crit range, 6 attacks per round.

D&D 5E (2024) Druids, Muskets, True Strike and Shillelagh

yup. I wish that crossbows were balanced around all being simple and having loading time of 1 Action. 1 Action is still too fast in reality, but that is probably the slowest that would be playable. shooting every other turn.

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

fighter gets new feature at every level except 5,11,17 and 20, when just more uses of old features are gained, 16 out 20 levels are something new bounded accuracy means that no matter how powerful you are, if you are unprepared, lots of low level opponents can take you out. that to me is better...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

so new abilities that you gain are nothing? inflating HPs are a problem, maybe add more attacks to classes or more various riders to attack. more attacks vs more HP is better than few attacks vs less HP.

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

yes, I would rather have attack scaling from +5 to +14(+3 weapon) than from +6 to +22ish(with +5 weapon) or in 3.5 where it went from +5ish to +35 or something like that

D&D General How the heck do you fight a medieval war in winter?

depends on how loose is your DM on definition of loose earth. i would say anything that is not easily grabbed by hand is not loose.
