D&D General Should Gnomes be Tiny

if it comes with reduced unarmed damage die and speed penalty, it might be a trade off. it's call game balance. but with all games, some penalties can be ignored or mitigated and some bonuses can be synergyezed with other features.

D&D General How the heck do you fight a medieval war in winter?

well, it still beats: I want to be tough soldier that can take a beating in protecting my town. well it sucks for you, here have a Savage attacker, you should have been a farmer if you wanted to take a beating. and OFC, only sailors are trained in ancient arts of tavern brawling, not soldiers...

    D&D General Hands slot economy

if enemy has a Ready action prepared exactly for that, then sure. it's a pretty high cost for something that might happen. you can hold pretty much any 1Handed weapon and grasp a shield with one hand no problem. but I do agree that we could have had 3 levels of shields. one for each armor...

D&D General How the heck do you fight a medieval war in winter?

bow is superior to firebolt until 5th level or until 17th level with extra attack. few can take Animal handling, Survival, Land vehicles and cartographers tools. this is why we have custom backgrounds.

D&D General Should Gnomes be Tiny

that is also valid approach, no modification to STR but highest you can start in str would be Medium: 18, Small: 14, Tiny: 10, then add max possible stat: Medium: 20 Small: 16 Tiny: 12 you get no penalties to STR and you get no bonuses to other abilites.

D&D General Do you play in person or online?

that is true, however if I have to drive 45-60mins and that again back for a session, I would rather have extra 1,5-2hrs of game play. 20-30mins is top that I am willing to make a drive for a session.

D&D General How the heck do you fight a medieval war in winter?

if every soldier gets Magic initiate wizard, life gets a lot more easy in winter or any other campaign. 1st; everyone gets Prestidigitation for personal needs. Keep yourself warm, dry and comfortable, making campfire in any conditions as long there is wood to burn. 2nd: other cantrip slot is...

D&D General What do you want out of your D&D/RPG games?

if the RPing is getting boring, just pull out a hand crossbow and shoot the boring NPC in the face. That will turn into an hour or two of dice rolling pretty fast.

D&D General Should Gnomes be Tiny

This why I believe that default "species" for dnd should all be medium with addition small and large are optional with real benefits and penalties.

that is why when you sleep at an Inn you slide the bed to the door and wardrobe to the window.

D&D General Should Gnomes be Tiny

OFC. amd -4 for small and -8 for tiny is also generous penalty. or just smaller races should suck at melee combat that is not finesse.

D&D General Do you play in person or online?

one campaign in person, other online, one before was a hybrid depending on free time of people.

D&D General Should Gnomes be Tiny

Gnomes if tiny: -8 STR all weapons need to made to tiny size(3.5e style), reduce damage die size by 2 steps. reach 0ft(need to be in space to attack with melee weapon), reach 5ft with reach weapons. but can move freely in and from spaces of Small creatures or larger without provoking AoO

D&D 5E (2024) Rogue Weapon mastery and Pact weapons

The once per turn is limit enough, does not matter if you have 1 or 10 attacks, you only get once extra damage(but the chance to get it is OFC improved with more attacks).

D&D 5E (2024) Rogue Weapon mastery and Pact weapons

this is true, it's also stupid to limit sneak attack like this. One of the bad legacies of 4E in 5E with limitation of many rogue "powers" to Light blades and hand crossbows. it should be similar to 3,5e; if it's an attack roll and it deals damage deal +Xd6 extra damage of the same type that...

    D&D General Hands slot economy

yeah, hand management is boring, slows the game down are really brings nothing to the game. OFC, there are always bonkers ideas on what can you juggle in your hands and those need to go away, but if you come with an idea, you better demonstrate it yourself somewhat effectively and your character...

D&D 5E (2024) Rogue Weapon mastery and Pact weapons

since every significant possible change to 5E24 was sacrificed on the altar of "muh compatibilitah!", I would say that improved pact weapon invocation(Xanatar) is still a legal choice so while it not state a musket but states bows and crossbows, musket would not be a stretch to give it to the...
