    Why does WotC hate Macs?

I'm a Mac user who doesn't care at all if Gleemax or DDI are Mac compatible. After all, if it doesn't run on a Mac, it's probably not worth using anyway. :)

    What to call adventurers?

Even Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser are sometimes referred to as adventurers in the Fritz Leiber stories, which have no lack of grit. It doesn't have a Peter Pan vibe for me at all.

D&D 4E From the 4e MM preview: Astraljamming?!

Interesting. I was already planning on using Spelljammer for my first 4e campaign.

    Keep on the Shadowfell

It's a preview as in "sample the game before you decide to spend money on the whole thing."

    WoW 2004=D&D 1980-ish

You do, however, invite 5 friends over to bring their xboxes and play networked games. This is a common activity for my younger brother (age 19ish,) and if fills the same social function that table top RPGs did for me at that age.

D&D 4E Would you buy 4E if it were not open/had no licenses for 3rd party companies?

You don't "NEED" anything beyond the first three books of any edition of D&D to run a fun game. Your pity is misplaced.

D&D 4E 4e Promotion can you help Andy Collins to get in touch with Stephen Colbert

I don't think big corporations work that way. I'm willing to bet that the WotC 4e team can only dream they had the resources of Hasbro PR at their disposal.

Pleast post text instead of links! :)

Why bother? It's only a matter of time before they notice EN World in the logs, and that gets blocked, too :)

Richard Baker on Orcus and Deity Slaying

I hope not. Or at least, I hope the point of it isn't to add non-ending level advancement like the 3e version did. Doing this really screws with the meta-setting if you've already established the most powerful beings in the multiverse as being in the 30's, level wise.

D&D 4E Keep on the Shadowfell specifics from Mearls (4e designer) .. new info on Page 2

I my case, I just want the adventure and the three double-sided poster maps. As a "preview 4E" module, I think it's more for people who want to preview 4e before deciding to buy it, not for people who want to preview 4e before it's released. Aiming at the first group definitely makes more...

How D&D Was Saved and Made It To 4e

Nothing killed 3e - it never failed, at least not in the way those articles describe TSR failing.

I was unconsious 20 minutes ago, but I'm ok now..

Needing time to recover hit-points is not a "long-term injury effect," because the loss of hit-points doesn't impose any "effects" on the functioning of the character. A fighter reduced to 1 hp can hit just as hard as he could at 100 hp. This is all the post you responded to was saying.

Okay, where do you stand on diagonal movement?

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/adventuring/hexGrid.htm It's taken from Unearthed Arcana.

Developing a "points of light" campaign setting

I'm not sure if it counts as Points of Light, but I plan to start my first 4e campaign immediately *after* the local chaos cultists have succeeded in unleashing a Lovecraftian horror on the PC's home plane. This will lead to the PCs escaping into the Astral Sea on a magical, sentient ship, and...

Why Not Just Call Them Stamina Points?

They're already not called "wound points," so I don't see the reason for a name change.

    D&D 3.x Will you still play 3.5?

We've already stopped playing 3.5, and started a Star Wars Saga Edition campaign that will last until we switch to 4e. I'll probably keep all my 3rd edition Dungeons and other adventure material around for possible conversion, but the rest (at the least) will go into storage.

Is the 15 minute adventuring day now the 90 minute adventuring day?

How many minutes of each day should be taken up with life-or-death combat, anyway? Sounds like adventurers need to unionize.

    Alright already!!!

I think they do, to some extent, at least for the purposes of EN World discussion. 3e is the baseline of comparison for the majority of the EN World community, and before the 4e announcement, it's game of choice. So because 3e already has the EN World seal of approval, it's not unreasonable to...

    Tactical Boardgame?

Because it doesn't make much sense. Despite strong support for miniatures and tactical combat, the game is fundamentally different from a board game in so many ways that a comparison is meaningless. All of the defining characteristic of a role-playing game have remained intact. And anyway, why...
