There are people that believe in those things, despite no rational evidence existing to support it. About 2 in 10 Americans believe in witchcraft.

Nobody should believe in the existence of Bigfoot or Nessie now, right? The fact that a tool is open sourced does not mean the functions will be generally understood. Even when tools are made consumer friendly (and free), you are making an assumption that user literacy will improve. "Station...

Predictive analysis is one major consideration in a business in which you have a lot of moving parts and moving your milestones can have dire results. Also, consider that anyone that is a seasoned professional on the content side is going to be more aware of how new, streamlining tools can...

I don't think the "somebody else did it" because IP protections typically includes distribution.

Not surprising though. Social media companies make money off of other people's effort.

Digital photography is sort of its own creative space with its own foibles. It is something I think of when applying creative filters. But consider also, the styles of various digital artists just in the RPG market, such as Erol Otus or Tony DiTerlizzi. As it is now, you can request certain AI...

An AI can 'consume' an image down to the individual pixel, including information that can be a challenge to see and compare with the naked eye, as well as any meta data associated with the file. While the 'magic' of AI doesn't really happen at the file level, it is already significant. The...

That's pretty much my point when you were asking for something more. Our present federal laws could really use some work as they for the most part, represent where we were in the late 90s.

That's not proactive though, but still an after the fact penalty if you can (reasonably) prove it. New laws that recognize the specific issues would certainly help extend protections that currently exist. But even that's going to be tough going.

Ideally, there are proactive protections for this among violations of (a great many) rights, but I don't think there's an easy solution. What would such a solution look like?

The controls though, specify legal applications. Controlling the tech is even more complicated. The position of the copyright office that AI art is not protected by copyright is based on AI not being a person. That in itself is a protection. If say, a client comes to me and says 'create an...

But we aren't just fine. There isn't a day that goes by in which some technology that maintains vital information or, manages some critical business, is hacked. That's the result of pushing out new tech without any consideration of security first (except in the case in which its mandated by...

The present discussion impacts the white collar, college educated jobs. But its doubly insidious. Here's why: - The impact of COVID19 has revealed that a lot of those white collar jobs can be done remotely (something many of us already understood, but larger businesses and government did not...

Congress never really addressed the dumb loopholes in it. And all the fun of requesting Google remove links and have them then post them to Chilling Effects, making them easier to find.

AI is stealing writers’ words and jobs…

AI is everywhere now but it is just now colliding with the market of expressions of intellectual property, which is far, far larger an issue that encompasses the worries in this little vertical market of RPGs. What we haven't really seen yet are new laws and rulings under current laws. The...

That's where its going to get especially interesting if courts begin to consider the intent of the training on one hand, and separately on how it is used. We could see a huge explosion of 'trade dress' related lawsuits.

I think while there seems to be no intellectual property protection for the output gives us a very short moment to consider other factors. I predict that once appropriate lawsuits are pursued, we will see some additional protection. For example, any training derived from non-permitted learning...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E economics -The Peasants are revolting!

It is a problem exacerbated by being on a 'gold standard.' Most non-business transactions should be in CP (or barter). It seems to me that rarity never quite worked in non-magic situations in D&D. It seems to me that there needs to be a step lower than 'common goods' and prices are set lower...
