Watch This Video About SWORD COAST LEGENDS Campaign Creation

It's unfortunate really. I don't feel the game will last long after selling a few immutable areas and a few popular race/classes/monsters. There were some fantastic modules for NWN, very well done, people poured their souls into that game. Creators are not gonna pour their souls into a game...

New D&D Survey: What Do you Want From Older Editions?

I wasn't sure whether to check the Seeker or not, so I didn't. There were a few semi-neat prestige classes for Paladins (Seeker of Truth), Wizards (Seeker of Lost Traditions), and Seeker of Dreams (D&D 3.5). They may be talking about the 4e Seeker, most likely I imagine, and I'm entirely...

What We Know About SWORD COAST LEGENDS DM Tools

After reading all the E3 previews, it seems evident that one can't make their own maps or creatures and import them into the game. One could take the areas shipped with the game and add placeables, monsters and NPCs, triggers for encounters, and change day/night and weather effects. Not exactly...

    D&D 5E (2014) Astral Projection

Oh my, I remember the days when we needed to use Nystul's Magic Aura to bring our non-magical stuff to the Astral because no one had a Light spell. Those were the days. I'd suggest newer DMs pick up the old Manual of the Planes illustrated above, it's a great book, I use it more than the 3rd...

    D&D 5E (2014) Enlarge beyond Large

Enlarge RAW is really only useful to buff your grappling comrade or hinder grappling foes. It's doesn't seem worth the concentration slot under other circumstances, though I've told the PCs that they could cast it as a 1st level spell and use a bonus of 1d6 for damage. In the play test...

[UPDATED] Dragon+: An Official D&D iOS App

Oh god, I'll admit I'm surprised Mr. Perkins. The successor of Dragon magazine is an Iphone app. I know I've always dreamed of reading the campaign settings and other D&D publications on the small screen of my android. On the bright side of things, I don't think their could be worse news, so...

    D&D 5E (2014) Favored Soul: Overpowered?

Yes, I'd have to agree, not sure what they were thinking with that one. They get the AC boost and flight of the Dragon Sorcerer as well. New 'options' that become default are not really 'options' at all. Re-skinning the Favored Soul as a Sorcerous Origin was a cool idea though.

FANTASY GROUNDS Virtual Tabletop's D&D License!

Fantasy Grounds looks neat and I'm not really worried about the cost, unless one has difficulty finding a game after footing the bill. It's pretty easy to find a game on Roll 20 for free. I did notice they've got FG forums, but no 'Looking for a Group' function as on Roll 20. Something similar...

Chris Perkins: Reintroducing Settings in Ways that Surprise People

Well, frankly, this all sounds dreadful. No campaign setting in print? I would be surprised if they expected to keep this edition alive with web articles, electronic databases, and mediocre adventure paths. Maybe WOTC can't do the work themselves anymore, that's fine. They should open up the...

    D&D 5E (2014) BAM: Where's 5E??

Yes, I had to dig around quite a bit when looking for a second player's handbook, my first one fell apart. They wanted $50 for it, so I just went to Amazon and got it for $30.

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Initiate feat spell + Warlock spell slot?

The wording on this one could be better, it doesn't seem as if the spell chosen is considered a new 'known' spell for your Warlock. However, it does say 'you learn it and can cast it once per day', but it also says that after you cast it, you must complete a long rest before you cast it again. I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Action Surge Questions

Sadly, or not so sadly depending on your opinion, characters with Action Surge can perform feats of magic greater than any other spell caster in the game. They can cast two one action spells in a single turn, using their action and then their Action Surge. This has been confirmed by J. Crawford...

D&D 5E (2014) MM: How many high levels monsters have some form of magic resistance?

I've played one character to the 20th level so far, he was an Evoker. The Evoker, with Sculpt Spell, has options at these levels, since his/her area affects do half damage even if they save. Magic Missile is an obvious choice here with no save. If your caster has the Robe of Archmagi or one...

D&D 5E (2014) MM: How many high levels monsters have some form of magic resistance?

Innate advantage on saving throws versus magic is a bit over the top really. Targets already get a save every round to break the debuff or controlling affect. Not to mention that casters have few spell slots and are limited to one concentration spell effect at a time. However, I do like the...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5e Evocation Specialist what spells to have at lvl 3?

Grease has a small area affect, but it also doesn't require concentration. Sleep is great for groups of kobolds and small groups of goblins, but is little use against orcs unless you beat them down first. And again, Sleep is not concentration. Make sure you make use of the few non-concentration...

D&D 5E (2014) It's October 1. Do you known where your spell cards are?

Uhh, I didn't post that Tormyr, not sure who did. Regardless, I don't see them replacing the decks. The overwhelming majority of Arcane spells, that are not instantaneous evocations, are concentration. That's a host of cards to fix.

D&D 5E (2014) It's October 1. Do you known where your spell cards are?

It would be easiest to simply use a list of what spells that aren't concentration, there aren't that many of them. It is silly that someone would need to do this though. There is no reason why this shouldn't be on the cards, really now.

D&D 5E (2014) It's October 1. Do you known where your spell cards are?

They stated before that the cards would be laminated. However, from the pictures, it looks that's not the case. I suppose I'll find out for sure when they are delivered.

D&D 5E (2014) Mordenkainen's Sword is Limp and Made of Tinfoil

It rarely ever hit anything at the levels I tried to use it. Even when the sword hits, it's a pathetic 3d10 damage. Don't waste your spell or concentration slot on that one. For Azuth's sake, the non-concentration Force Cage and the awesome concentration spell Reverse Gravity are both at 7th...

    D&D 5E (2014) How many short rests?

My two DMs only give us one long rest and one short rest per 24 hour period.
