Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Is Almost Upon Us! Discuss What You Want

First two episodes are up! I haven't watched them myself, but my sister has. She says there's a bit of tonal whiplash between the two, with the first being "we're all gonna die!" and the second being a "weird fantasy comedy" thing. She says the latter involves

D&D 5E (2014) Keys from the Golden Vault play reports

Just realized I need to add my Vidorant's Vault play report! Will have to get on that as soon as I can ... Also, I am prepping to run Shard of the Accursed next, and I'm having some difficulty with the established timeline. Thousands of years ago: Xeluan the giant and a band of heroes do their...

Anyone else catch the Jurassic Park reference? (It’s around 1:25 for reference.)

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Gladiator: The Narrative Dissonance

OK maybe it just feels like it then. In my experience, the 2024 gladiator has always been a tough combatant when ever I’ve put the PCs up against one (or more).

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

Interestingly, WotC's even going for Small-sized humans. In the new Dragon Delves book, the level 9 adventure includes a pair of elderly human shepherds who are both Human and Small. They're described as being "two of the oldest human residents" of the adventure locale. Having two little old...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Gladiator: The Narrative Dissonance

The 2014 gladiator hits pretty hard for a CR 5 with its three attacks as well. I like to have them Shield Bash an opponent prone so they get advantage on their next two Spesr attacks. Very gladiatorial.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

In the introduction to Dragon Delves, under "Creating a Campaign": Option 3: Hoard Magic Items If you have Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, the hoard of magic items described in that book can provide an incentive for characters to seek out dragons of increasing power and different kinds. Add the...

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

I'm not worried on account of that one line only. It's that plus the new artwork plus a few other things. It's all adding up to me worrying that they might be changing the setting in ways I won't like.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

Yeah, that's a fair point. I guess I'm just worried that they're going to shift Eberron more towards actual steampunk and away from magitech. Hopefully I am wrong.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

Hmm. That could explain why guns are now in the PHB too. Color me unimpressed - I prefer to keep my science fiction and my fantasy separate. One of the things that I like about Eberron is its whole "what would a post-medieval, post-war society powered by magic, not technology, look like?" schtick.

D&D General Boots of Striding and Springing

I still think it would suggest that in a more general way, rather than specifically calling out the weight-related speed reductions.

D&D General Boots of Striding and Springing

That's not how I read it. The text specifically states that the boots prevent weight-related speed reductions, not all speed reductions. If it was latter, the text would read more like Barkskin ... like, "These boots set your speed to 30 feet, unless it is already higher, and your speed can't be...

D&D 5E (2024) Weird Potion House Rule Idea

I used to always provide them with printed out magic item cards, including for potions and scrolls. Didn't always help because they would have to remember to look through all the little pieces of paper clipped to their character sheet ...

D&D 5E (2024) Weird Potion House Rule Idea

It's still an action to get one out of your backpack or whatever. I generally ignore the "getting the potion" part and just have them use a single action to get it out and use it. That aside, my issue is that I find my players simply don't remember what all consumable items they've got. A bunch...

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

I hope so! Between stuff like this and the changes to warforged and airships in the art, I'm worried that I won't like this book. But I really want to like it because I'm currently running an Eberron campaign.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

From the article: "This is Eberron, a world where science and magic collide." I hope that's just Mark Bernier taking creative licence. Because up till now, Eberron's schtick has been that magic has taken the place of science!

D&D General More details on what to expect from the Player's Guide to the Forgotten Realms from Polygon, Massive Amount of Spells & Feats

I would really love it if WotC would produce an actual Abeir campaign guide. I'd love to explore a world openly ruled by dragons!
