    D&D 5E (2024) Heroes of the Borderlands

This might have been answered earlier in the thread: how extensive is the adventure? Is it a Phandelver scale starter campaign, playable for a longer period, or just a short one shot thing?

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

It is weird that folks seem okay ignoring the lowest ratings as from"haters" but not the highest ratings as from sycophants.

I refuse to take responsibility for that monstrosity. I was half drunk when I wrote the OP and expected it to fade into obscurity within the hour.

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Here's the thing: it is 2025. We have reached the point where we understand, even when playing a traditional RPG like D&D, that the GM is not the sole author. And more particularly that GMs need permission to mess with PCs because PCs belong to the players. Now, this can be session zero...

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

All characters learned their skills from someone. They all have backstories and ties to setting elements outside themselves. The rogues old guild can come for them, or the wizard's master can summon them for aid. That's part of playing in a fictional world. But the idea that the GM is somehow...

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

So what other classes do you consider to allow free intrusion for the GM on player agency?

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

This is kind of trying to read the GM's mind stuff I abhor.

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

Your metrics feel off. Scarcity is not related to anything beyond interest. Remember that it is essentially an extension of CR fandom. That doesn't necessarily translate to people playing it. I mean look at Avatar and Cosmere. Huge Kickstarters. Who is playing them?

I think they could have issued new printings with new art a la the black border 2E stuff and it would have been fine. The half edition nonsense created more problems than it solved.

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

Based on the lead time in this kind of product (which I have worked on) Paizo is not getting any useful feedback for the next "issue."

5E Powered Gamma World: What Should It Look Like

D&D 5E (2024) NPCs, and the poverty of the core books

I can't imagine being forced to spend years vetting everything that could possibly appear in the game before I am allowed to start the campaign.

D&D General What even are you? (a poll)

    You can pick multiple things.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

I think the beginner GM book should have been in a really robust starter set and the actual DMG should be the reference at the table.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

So do I, but since I am not a player in a 2024 game I can't really judge it from that perspective beyond knowing that there are some changes my players like and some they despise. The MM is more of the same from Mordenkainens. I expected more -- significantly more. The MM preview videos...

So, anecdotally. Which is fine. But I wouldn't build a bridge out of it.

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Right but people are advocating for here is the idea that anyone who chose to play a Warlock signed up for an intrusive boss, which is more of a problem (and more work for the GM) that a Paladin's Oath or a clerics extremely nebulous "devotion" -- for a class that by the fiction should have LESS...

Beware the GM that suddenly discovered Grimtooth's.
