need help,at work w/no books! CR and treasure

A gnoll barbarian 1 would be CR 2; according to the MIV, that means it's entitled to 2nd level NPC gear, or 2,000 gp. Potions of haste and heroism (750 gp each) are always nice for buffs.

    Hacamuli, Demonic Messenger of Orcus!

And added the charuntes template, for creating snake-haired undead priests of your favorite death god/goddess/demon prince: http://home.gwi.net/~rdorman/frilond/rul/dm/charuntes.htm

    Hacamuli, Demonic Messenger of Orcus!

Uploaded a conversion of the skotos (an shadowy undead template) to my website: http://home.gwi.net/~rdorman/frilond/rul/dm/skotos.htm

I'm gonna run The Tomb of Horrors for level 15-17 chars...

I understand this is the theory, but in my experience -- and this after running this adventure many times in many different editions -- I have not found a strong correlation between careful play and success. The most successful parties I have DMed were the most reckless, run-and-gun groups that...

    Bigby's Tomb?

Nuts . . . I just put my Polyhedron collection back in storage. "The 384th Incarnation of Bigby's Tomb" was written by Frank Mentzer and used for some tournament games; it was published in Polyhedron 20. SPOILERS AHOY? V V V V It's been a long time since I've looked at this one, but I'm not...

I'm gonna run The Tomb of Horrors for level 15-17 chars...

I think you will have a very, very hard time scaling the module up to those levels because so much of the dungeon is composed of mechanical traps, which -- for a lot of reasons -- are not as threatening for parties above 12th level. Many features would have to be abandoned or rethought...

Any news on d20 Delta Green?

    The price I was quoted through Paizo was 1 x Delta Green Hardcover (d20) @ 35.96 = $35.96 Subtotal (1 Item): $35.96 Shipping & Handling: $9.32 ----------------------------------- Order Total: $45.28 Of course, the status is still pending . . .

    Unconverted Polyhedron creatures

I've uploaded a conversion of the bloody bones from issue 18 to my website: http://home.gwi.net/~rdorman/frilond/rul/dm/bloodybones.htm Enjoy!

    Unconverted Polyhedron creatures

I believe it was on page 19 -- the last inside page of the module. I have no idea where my copy of C5 is (again, I really need to get organized), but I am pretty confident this is the same monster that's in Polyhedron 19 -- it's the same author, after all.

    Unconverted Polyhedron creatures

I found and checked my cache of issues 1-23, though issues 15 and 16 were missing. Man, I've got to get my magazines organized. Anyway, I found a few more critters: Issue 2: gagertral, in Jean Wells' "How to Create Monsters for the D&D Basic and Expert Games." Issue 18: bloody bones (master...

Any news on d20 Delta Green?

I placed an order through Paizo about a week ago, but my order status has been stuck as "pending." After waiting a couple of days and also noticing that the book's status had become "unavailable," I sent an email to customer service to see what was going on -- if Paizo wouldn't be able to fill...

    Unconverted Polyhedron creatures

I went through a cache of Polyhedrons in the 20s and 30s. Turns out I do have issue 34 -- no new monsters in there. Issue 30, Jeff Grubb's "The Ravager [Part I]" adventure has a ghast-lord, a variant ghast. (8 HD, clerical spellcasting.) The second part of the adventure in issue 31 has...

    Unconverted Polyhedron creatures

I definitely have 19 somewhere in the vault, but the Acaeum's description of issue 34 doesn't ring any bells (http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/periodicals/polyhedron.html). There's another monster I know of from either 16, 17, 18, or 19 -- Bob Blake's version of a bloody bones undead.

Is it just me, or are the Munchkin card games rather lame?

It does boggle the mind to think that this game alone is apparently keeping Steve Jackson Games afloat. We have had great fun with the original set, though. I guess if I got 20+ fun sessions out of it, I'd consider that a rousing success.

    Unconverted Polyhedron creatures

I think I have all of the first 30 issues or so, and I think there are a few more critters I could add to the list. There's an icy elemental thingie from James Ward, for sure. In general, the magazine was a little meh to me -- lots of Gangbusters, Boot Hill, Top Secret, and Gamma World support...

    Unconverted Imagine creatures

Yeah, ebay is your best bet. Individual issues seem fairly rare, but don't seem to command huge prices, either. In general, I don't think Imagine was ever nearly as good as Dragon or White Dwarf -- it seemed to have never really found its groove by the time TSR pulled the plug. Imagine did...

    Substituting Spell-Like Abilities

One of the more interesting things for me in the Fiendish Codex II was a sidebar on swapping out spell-like abilities, so that a devil that normally had fireball could, say, have "orb of flame" or some other similar spell effect instead. The sidebar had a decently long list of spell-like...

Outfitting a Monster: CR, HD, or ECL?

Not quite. There's a contradiction between the 3.5e Monster Manual and the DMG regarding wealth and classed monsters.
