D&D 5E (2014) Worldbuilding: destruction and siege via Mold Earth?

right I am not trying to build a stone temple here I am digging a trench, one that I understand was common for soldier to dig inWW2 in even pact dirt... I have no issue with "Oh this earth isn't loose" but don't tell me because I can't see all sides of the 5ft of dirt the spell can't do what it...

D&D 5E (2014) Worldbuilding: destruction and siege via Mold Earth?

I can see it right there... no one can with out serius magic see all 8 sides of a 5ft cube, so your ruling is it can't do what it says it does, the move the earth is a stated ability I am not cheesing I am littarly asking for what it says. the spell says I can target an area of loose earth...

D&D 5E (2014) Worldbuilding: destruction and siege via Mold Earth?

you are saying that the effect that is litterally written in the cantrip as what it can do, you would not let it do... that isn't simulatining its house ruleing away part of the spell The DM wont let me do what the spell SAYS it does, no cheese. yeah I expect if I take something that says I...

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

in real life physical power, manual agility and over all health are all connected. Having anyone with a 16 17 18 19 or 20 in any one of the physical stats and have 10s or 8s in another should be very rare.

so can't we make a list of powers that a fighter can choose from, and then they are like sorcerer and warlock, they can't do anything every fighter can, but they have there level in tricks they can pull?

D&D 5E (2014) Worldbuilding: destruction and siege via Mold Earth?

So far I have been on the page of "it depends on the DM" but this one seems down right hostile. "I can see the sand, so I move 5ft of it" "No, you can only see at most a few inches on top" isn't reading the spell at all. My favorite use for the spell is setting up camp. Okay I'm going to...

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

So I found my 12th level warrior and here is what she had Sword and shield instead of using the die for a check you can push a creature that die roll ft then follow it with an attack, if you would push them into a wall or other creature your attack gains advantage. Punishing stance. as a bonus...

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

I asked him to email me it if he still has it but he is at work now and I work tonight at d4 it is super swingy as it goes up the amount of variance goes down. We would go whole sessions with 2 of us holding onto d8s no my complaint was how random it felt not often, but the few times it...

I forgot the one that my buddy used like every game that just removed a condition as no action at the start of your turn if you have a d8 or higher and lower it 1 step

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

I had a DM that had a real cool house rule you might want to try. Every round the fighter (well his rewrite of it) got a d6 to roll to add to either a str dex or con save, or attack or skill check. If you roll a 1 you lower your die to a d4, then if you get a 1 again it goes down to a d3 then...

    RPG Evolution: The Pit Problem

10ft wide anyone with a 10 str jumps across. it is so easy it's not an issue at all. You really need it to be 15+ feet

    RPG Evolution: The Pit Problem

jumping in 5e is based on str you can with a 10 ft start jump your str score in feet, so 8ft-20ft there are some DMs I have had that let you make DC 10 athletics checks to add +1ft to the jump plus 1 more per 5 over that. We had a multi classed psywarrior once get 17ft from str add a d8 to the...

    RPG Evolution: The Pit Problem

Pits are still a major challenge if you don't know to look for them. My first ever character died because she didn't think there were any traps and moved forward and fell into a 50ft pit with spikes at the bottom. The fall itself didn't kill her but brought her down to low single digit HP, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Skywrite: a weapon of mass communication/coordination

that reminds me of Brandon Mullion that said "first day of mage school, put down those books, you don't get powerful magic that way, you have to kill kobolds"
