D&D 5E (2014) Favorite maps from published adventures

And its so disappointing that it has literally nothing to do with the plot of the rest of the adventure. Although, as a lead in to Rod of Seven Parts, it would be great!

Where Do They Get Their Plagues?

My next campaign is all about disease + zombie apocalypse, actually. The goddess of disease and death is attempting to remake the material plane over to match her prison, so things are going badly for, well, everyone.

D&D 5E (2014) Favorite maps from published adventures

I really do love all of Schley's maps, simply because they're pretty.

D&D 5E (2014) What does "murderhobo" mean to you?

I've always thought of a murderhobo as not a character problem, but as a player problem; in other words, a murderhobo is a player who does not care about the story that they are telling with their character. "Who cares whether my character murders town guards?" "Who cares whether I attacked...

D&D 5E (2014) How would you best represent astronomy skills in D&D?

I'm not happy with my moon orbits, as of yet, but I'm working on it.

D&D 5E (2014) How would you best represent astronomy skills in D&D?

Yeah, Intelligence + Navigator's Tools seems most appropriate; I'd also allow a History check, too, for info on the various constellations and stars visible from that part of the world. And, yes, I am insane enough to have that information for my setting.

    Morrus' New Years' RPG Resolutions

    1. Try and kill as many PCs as possible. 2. Finish the current campaign and decide what to do afterwards. 3. Hopefully get to play as a player, rather than a DM. 4. Complete my insane project of writing my setting. 5. Actually get something published for real (will be coming along eventually).

D&D 5E (2014) Likelihood of getting an Isle of Dread remake or a full Feywild/Shadowfell campaign guide?

I did Isle of Dread in 5e last year, was a blast; I ended up building it up a lot, and changing a few things about the eventual end-boss and such.

D&D 5E (2014) Has anyone ever been part of a group that has booted the DM?

Hm. I wouldn't say boot the DM so much as just come to the unanimous decision that the DM was terrible and that I should take over. The DM in question was more interested with forcing his story down our throats than letting us tell a story, so everyone's character's backstories didn't get...

A 308-Page Paperback WOIN Core Rulebook For Under $10!

I believe Morrus said he was in another thread, which I'm looking forward to.

D&D 5E (2014) How much homebrew material do you use?

I have several homebrew classes and subclasses that are available for my players, all of which I've written; a few subclasses and classes that I've found on various websites, as well. The campaign setting is a hideous conglomeration of barely contained insanity, and the campaign itself is a...

    You can now get a $10 b/w softcover digest-sized version of N.E.W.!

Will OLD be going up like this, too, eventually?

D&D 5E (2014) Wait... why are we adventuring together?

I solve it by, as a DM, putting a series of "Character Hooks" available for them to choose from and build characters around. They're usually very open ended, but often tie into the big things happening in the setting, in one way or another. For example, my current campaign begins with the...

    D&D 5E (2014) CR ratings are obsolete.

I cared about CR and stuff when I first started DMing; when 5e came out, I cared for...about three weeks. Then, I went, "You know, I'm going to put stuff where it makes sense. If my players stumble onto something they can't handle, I hope they have the brain to run away."

Help me design my homebrew setting...

Another setting that doesn't go quite that far, but has a similar feel to what we've been describing in this thread, is Frog God Game's Lost Lands (my favorite setting by far, so sue me for plugging it).

Help me design my homebrew setting...

Steal. Steal all the things. Simple to say. However, my biggest suggestion is to watch and read everything you can on the 10th-14th century to get an idea of what's going on during that era. That will get you into a proper mindset, and get an idea of what kind of thing will be around--then...

D&D 5E (2014) Ending COS soon. What next?

Why stop there? Go to Paizo.com, get the Dungeon magazine issues (139-150, specifically) with Savage Tides in it! God, I love that adventure path. One day. One day, I will run you again, Savage Tides.

    D&D 5E (2014) They Broke Arcane Archer!!!

It's super easy to miss stuff like that; hell, I still find typos and grammar mistakes in my own notes for my campaign and player's guide that I've been working on for over a year.
