    Knockback rules

Looking for comments. Is this viable in the game? It is not a feat or a special ability; it just happens if the attacker wishes it. It's to simulate the "Sauron" effect when large, powerful creatures attack smaller ones. It has not yet been playtested. Thanks! Knockback Knockback occurs on...

Commune - Fixing it? Or losing it?

I have 10th level characters in my game and haven't had a problem with castings of commune as of yet. It sometimes takes them a good half hour to make up questions, allowing me to sit back and consider the answers for a while.

Dungeon Adventure Path series in Greyhawk?

Yes, I would love to see web enhancements that include pregenerated characters for eTools and PCGen.

Dungeon Adventure Path series in Greyhawk?

I play and run games in the Realms. I don't mind if it's set in Greyhawk as long as it can be easily modified for FR. In fact, it may be helpful to add a footnote here and there suggesting how to adapt it to the Realms.

    Full attack and Improved Grapple

Interestingly enough, I just noticed in the 3.0 FAQ that it says when you take the -20 penalty it applies to all grapple checks you make until your next turn.

24 people rated EN World as 0/10!

I never click on "vote for me" links. However, Morrus is an exception. If he finds them important, then I will help. I'm happy to say I did my part.

    Full attack and Improved Grapple

I don't see an "entering a grapple" rule, but perhaps I'm missing something. I do see a "joining a grapple" rule, and it's this: Since it states that you're attacking someone who is already in a grapple, I don't think that pertains to your comment. Of course, you're welcome to rebut if you're...

    Full attack and Improved Grapple

Again, this doesn't appear to be what the text says: That would mean you could use the "Damage Your Opponent" action while pinning someone.

    Full attack and Improved Grapple

I don't think you can really grapple two different people at the same time without taking -20 against one or both of them. I didn't see any rules that stated you could initiate a grapple on someone else when you were already grappling.

Actually, they aren't helpless as per the SRD 3.5:

I wonder if they mean that the bear is not considered grappled against anyone else. Obviously, it's grappling with the rogue because it has a paw on him and they're in the same square. But for the purposes of everyone else, it's not considered grappling and doesn't get all the penaties of...

    Thumbs Down to 3.5 Edition

How do you deal with things like attacks of opportunity (in its many forms of being triggered), flanking, sneak attacks, cleave, whirlwind attack, spell effects that have multiple opponent distance limiters (like magic missile), mobility, combat reflexes, and cover from ranged attacks made by...

    Full attack and Improved Grapple

I haven't been able to find in the rules where it states the -20 to the grapple is only for offensive rolls and not for grapple attempts initiated by the opponent. Can you find it?

    Full attack and Improved Grapple

I just reread "Improved Grab" in the glossary of the MM 3.5. It says "each successful grapple check it makes during successive rounds automatically deals the damage indicated for the attack that established the hold." This tells me that, if the bear is grappling normally, it can make a grapple...

    Full attack and Improved Grapple

A flurry requires a full attack action and you can't do a full attack action in a grapple.

Why can he grapple them both without the -20 if he holds on to them for one round? Please cite.

    Full attack and Improved Grapple

Frank, thanks for listing out a combat. I have some questions about it. I thought natural weapons never got iterative attacks. Why is that? Why can't the other claw and bite go on the rogue? Is it because they are now in a grapple? But the bear isn't grappled because it took a -20. It is...

Ha! I did that with a Mind Flayer in the finale of a certain module once. Doh!

    Thumbs Down to 3.5 Edition

That's not fair to the players, who have to get their numbers exactly right or they're called for cheating. Remember, +1 to hit is a whole feat, a magical upgrade, or +2 to a stat. Those kinds of things don't come cheap to a PC, and NPCs should play by the same rules.

    Full attack and Improved Grapple

I'm still confused as to how a brown bear would start an improved grab, then handle an entire turn while grappling. Can someone explain this setup with an example including actual rolls?
