Ranged Strikers - more "aggro" mechanics?

There is nothing in Hunter's Quarry that states that it is a "Mark". Granted, we only have the demo characters which are incomplete and have abilities that may have changed by now, but "Mark" is a specific, 4e term and is not used in this ability.

Ranged Strikers - more "aggro" mechanics?

Just picture this as the new version of Point Blank Shot - same idea: you do more damage to closer opponents. Did PBS encourage you to shoot at the guys that were closer to you or did it encourage you to get closer to the guys you wanted to shoot at?

Ranged Strikers - more "aggro" mechanics?

Neither Warlock's Curse nor Hunter's Quarry describe the target as being Marked. I am willing to bet the text we have is wrong on at least one of them. Caveat: we do not have all the rules, and the rules we have are incomplete. I was under the impression that under the basic rules for...

D&D 4E 4e classes and mechanics for other settings

Ang Lee did do Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. No GUN-fu in there, but lots of 'fu. . .

Any of the King Arthur stories/legends.

Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

I think it makes sense. It gives you a higher AC for the same reason DEX, INT, and Armor give you a higher AC - because it makes you harder to hit. Compare to 3.5: Enemy rolls to hit, then rolls to see if they hit you or your hologram. Wait, so my hologram has an AC? it's a hologram. . ...

What books describe a good magical world?

Just don't form an opinion of them based on the short-lived SciFi Channel series. They are great books. The 11th in the series comes out next week. Butcher also has a fantasy series - the Codex Alera, the first of which is "The Furies of Calderon". Loads of fun if you like Roman Legions...

    WoTC Rodney: Economy of actions

Fun is an issue in any setting, too. That is why we are having such an interesting and varied discussion on the subject. For some, consistency is fun; for others, getting to do stuff is fun. Balancing the two is tricky. . .

D&D 4E 4E: The Biggest Changes in any D&D Edition Switch

The crunch changes from 2e => 3e were pretty huge. The changes to "monsters" alone was huge: they got basic attributes, could be given levels, and played as characters. 2e core cosmology? I can't remember any core gods at all - were there any?

    WoTC Rodney: Economy of actions

You limit it to one to preserve the economy of actions among the players - so one player does not have 50 cohorts tagging along, bloating combats, slowing down the game. That is not a 'typical encounter' - if it is you should drag out the Warhammer fantasy Battle Miniatures rules and go to...

    WoTC Rodney: Economy of actions

In my opinion, there are two classes of allies being discussed, and they should be treated differently because of their potential impact on the DM's ability to prepare appropriate encounters. The cohort, hireling, or permanent ally: Should be allowed to participate fully in any fight and share...

    1 encounter + rest + 1 encounter = 2 AP?

Someone (Keith Baker, maybe?) pretty much said that their are class abilities driven by AP points. Now, whether this means powers that use AP to activate or generic uses inherently particular to each class I am not sure. . . .

    Power Source / Role Query

My impression has been the same as Vayden's. There has been some speculation regarding a "Primal" or "Nature" Power source for Druids and Barbarians (maybe?). Psionic or Psychic is another that I think we are pretty likely to see. Then there's the Monk. . .

    D&D 4E 4e: the new paradigm

I think this is a really key point. The nature/explainability/'mere existance' of pre-encounter and per-day abilities is probably the biggest source of contention/discussion regarding the new rules that we have seen so far. One camp wants a clear connection between player action/experience...

    D&D 4E 4e: the new paradigm

I agree, it has been an interesting discussion. This sums up the rational for every evil humanoid in the cosmology: orcs, kobolds, gnolls, goblins, bugbears, etc. . . . could all be summed up as "x hd bad-guy with [picka]-vision". With you so far. . . See, this is not how I see it at all. The...
