It is my understanding that the souls trapped in the coins are the souls of those who ended up in Hell, or that made bargains with devils (hence, their soul would end up in Hell). Their final reward being, eternity in Hell. I suppose good gods wouldn't allow good souls to end up in Hell...

I'm still not convinced that destroying a evil soul is an evil act. If I'm not mistaken, devils (and demons) are "evil souls given form", and when they're killed in their home plane, they're gone for good. Would you consider that an evil act?
