I don't know of any of the players I have played with that role-play as themselves. They don't want to act the exact same way in a game as they do in IRL. They choose an alignment and a race and a class and a background with goals and flaws and all the rest that would have them act differently...

Most of players I DM wouldn't think twice about cutting the horns off a minotaur they captured as a way of protecting themselves against it having a weapon. If one of the players was captured instead of killed by a group of orcs for instance, I would have no qualms about doing the same. There...

It would seem more logical to give large PCs a bonus to weapons like the Enlarge/Reduce spell plus reach and then the squeezing penalties could balance it out.

That just seems to a "that's the way things have been done" answer. If tunnels were made by gnomes, then medium creatures would have to squeeze. Different sizes have advantages/disadvantages.

If a minotaur is taken prisoner (by monsters or the city guard), first thing I'd do is have its horns cut off; otherwise its still armed. Not so much of incentive any more.

I’m running Curse of Strahd with 2 groups now. Both entered Death a house, which so thought was going to bore them because of all of the rooms that basically had nothing of significance. I guess I was able to make the kids creepy enough and build suspense and they ended up loving it. However...

Could it be that you have no trouble coming up with new monsters because the design doesn’t really work? A troll has a (regeneration) weakness to acid so spewing acid seems to be counterintuitive.

This works for me. 5e magic items aren’t like Halloween candy.
