Rodney Thompson's DUSK CITY OUTLAWS Kickstarter Is Now Live!

Has anyone watched Tom Hardy's Taboo on FX/BBC? I'll keep this spoiler free but the setting of the show hearkens to Dusk City Outlaws and DCO's specialties could emulate well the aptitude of many characters.

    What are you listening to?

I just saw Murder by Death and they were incredible. I'm gormandizing all of their albums. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nCPP8FpNIY

D&D 5E (2014) Do you embrace the silly?

In my experience if the name can be one Bart uses to call Moe's, it's a joke name. There might be an element of knowing your players. I've played in a game with a monk named Lo Mein and a bard named Marky Desade. Those players like corny jokes and it was apparent that they thought the names...

    D&D 4E D&D Fluff Wars: 4e vs 5e

I love the 4E fluff for the aasimar/deva whereas the 3.5/5th Edition aasimar seems very bland to me.

    D&D 5E (2014) Your First Module

My first module purchased, run, and played was First Quest--an introductory boxed set for 2nd Edition. It had four scenarios--a dungeon with humanoids, a haunted house, a Spelljammer, and a caves with a dragon. I ran the first one for three of my friends and then each of them took a turn...

    Rogue One Review (Spoilers)

Overall I enjoyed it despite having some issues with it. I didn't like the CGI Tarkin or Leia. I too would rather have had a look alike or limited CGI Tarkin to shadows and relections. Heh. That gave me pause as well. I think it would have worked better if they hacked into it or something...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Introduces The Artifcer

I love it. The alchemist is straight up my alley. It might be interesting if the alchemist had more poison creating abilities but maybe that strays too far from the Artificer's identity. Brilliant idea! I would love to see a Fleshwarper subclass. (Although much of this could be reskinned...

Your Most Anticipated RPG Of 2017?

Are you all doing a Kickstarter campaign for it or will it be a typical retail release? (Thanks for the info, I can't wait to see it!)

Your Most Anticipated RPG Of 2017?

I'll throw another voice in for Sentinels of the Multiverse and Star Trek.

D&D 5E (2014) Give me your craziest, most GONZO PC concepts!

My new-to-roleplaying friend in college wanted to try his hand at GMing D&D 3.x. I guess the thrill of being the GM went to his head because he forewarned us that he would kill at least one character each session. Our characters' short life expectancy sapped our investment in serious...

Looking for Board Game Recommendations for 8 and 11 year olds

Escape is another one that my daughter and nephews (11 and 12) enjoy. If you get it, I recommend the base game and the curses expansion. I bought the big box with all of the expansion and there's never enough interest to try the more complex expansions (even with my adult boardgaming friends).

Looking for Board Game Recommendations for 8 and 11 year olds

My eight year old daughter likes Forbidden Island, Exploding Kittens, FlashPoint, Love Letter, Burgle Bros, King of Tokyo, Memory, and Sorry.

    D&D 5E (2014) In fifth-edition D&D, what is gold for?

Diving around in it like a porpoise, and burrowing through it like a gopher, and tossing it up and letting it hit you on the head!

Could I have some Advice on my Character please?

Unless I read it wrong, the character grew up in a sleepy village, was trained to be an archer by a travelling elf and worked as a hunter and guard in her village. Seems like a Ranger fits well.

    D&D 5E (2014) Most Underrated D&D Module

I say 2E's Dragon's Rest from the Dragonlance series. It didn't follow the War of the Lance main plot and took place in some other dimension. The characters would travel from this island (maybe in the Astral Plane) to other dimensions to recover MacGuffins. Then they would return to a random...

    D&D 5E (2014) You find a magical _____, it does _____

I loved 3.5's grafts--this is a brilliant. A vial of giant squid ink If the vial of giant squid ink is used to pen a book, the words become infused with the essence of a kraken. When the book is read aloud at night as a bedtime story, the nearest kraken will speak to those who listened to the...

Could I have some Advice on my Character please?

I think you can make a non-leadership character for any class. And I don't think you should restrict yourself to a backline (I presume that means support?) role unless that's something you're interested in. You can be a frontline combatant who isn't a leader, if that's what you like.

Could I have some Advice on my Character please?

I would still give my character personality but let the other PCs take the lead in social situations. You don't need to make a caricature who avoids talking to people at all costs but simply play your character to not go out of their way to be the leader.

Could I have some Advice on my Character please?

If you have a difficult time coming up with a personality and/or how to act out your character, consider emulating a character from a book, show, or movie that you enjoy and think would fit in well with the party. For example, emulate Patrick Stewart's Professor X for your sagely, caring...
