    Martial Dailies - How so?

Fair enough. I'm just saying if it comes out that the PHB flat out states that martial characters use their skill and determination to draw on the ambient energies of the environment and their own bodies to perform feats impossible to mundane masters of combat and somebody says "Well, that...

    Martial Dailies - How so?

Ever consider that you might turn out to be objectively wrong then? What if the entire design point of the martial power source includes chi or mojo or non-skill related awesomeness? yes, the main schtick of the martial source is raw battle without spell effects, but it does seem to be leaning...

D&D 4E POL Settings in Literature to Base 4e Settings On

Pretty much, yes. Some islands could be barely self sufficient for a while, but actual survival has to come through inter-island trading. These people need iron, but getting iron has to come from over here and there just isn't enough food to keep a mining colony running by itself. Sure, there...

D&D 4E POL Settings in Literature to Base 4e Settings On

Okay... I really like this one. I mean REALLY like this one. An archipelago that is the shattered remnant of an ancient empire with ruins and monsters and terrible horrors of the Deep. No one island is enough to support an entire country, some have mineral resources, some have arable land...

    Colors of magic (Help, please!)

You are very close and differences are probably semantic. I'll go through the list anyway for clarity. Hysh, the White Wind. Light wizards command forces of light, truth, healing and purity. Azyr, the Blue Wind. Celestial wizards deal with storms, winds, divination and the stars. Chamon, the...

Would you Swap 3.5e for Exalted?

The WotC retail store I worked at also had to destroy dozens of other books by other companies when it shut down. I wanted a stack of GURPS books, but they had to be torn apart and sent back for destruction.

D&D 4E 4E and Exalted: Use the setting

Oh... then no. No that is pretty much their entire schtick. A false religion set up by the illuminati to keep creation stable without the Solar regime and to bring all the gods and spirits under a new hierarchy. How can anybody get in a fight over that? I mean, if you don't like it you don't...

D&D 4E 4E and Exalted: Use the setting

Well, what was your problem with how it was depicted?

    Gygax doesn't matter?

I knew a Matt Snyder once. The guy was even obsessive about how you pronounce "chimera." I can't see the picture very well from here, but it doesn't look like the same guy. I'm really glad because I'd have to track him down in San Diego and smack him about for being a hypocrite.

What "IS" the Dungeons & Dragons Brand?

Hrm, I've never tried. Maybe that will have to be my next GURPS game, just to test out that theory. Yeah, I'd have to say that GURPS has this one. Not as fast to start up, but GURPS has always run pretty swiftly compared to 3rd. I'm pretty much a "roll and shout" sort of gamer, so GURPS runs...

Camping: It does a body good!

I'm hoping there will be rules for persistent effects so that you can narrate damage that makes actual physical changes in a character beyond mere loss of hit points. It wouldn't be a big deal to translate grievous wounds from Black Company if you like that sort of thing.

Camping: It does a body good!

"You're wondering how they heal and bleed, and other science facts? Just repeat to yourself 'its just a game, I should really just relax!"

    Rename Thievery to Roguery

I'd rather rename the rogue to thief.

    D&D 4E 4E Rogue for non-4E enthusiast

It may also be that the "clever rogue" is actually handled by the rogue. The Scoundrel seems to do a good enough job after all. Always was as far as I could see. I don't understand what was so mechanically superior about other rogues that made them more clever.

Confirmed: Magic items and summoned monster stats in PHB

No, you aren't reading it wrong, but I think you are putting implications that aren't inherent in the game. Yes, the players can equip PCs with magic items at higher levels. That doesn't necessarily mean that they bought these item from a shop, just that when a PC is equipped at a higher...

Confirmed: Magic items and summoned monster stats in PHB

Nope. Doesn't matter who has attacked who in any way. The targets don't even have to be combatants. The spell dictates that they attact your opponents. As long as the caster is perfectly clear who the opponents are (as in; An individual or group who is your rival, one who attempts to stop...

Confirmed: Magic items and summoned monster stats in PHB

Yes it is. Very simple. When in doubt, they attack the one that is closest until it is out of the fight, then they go to the next one unless you can tell it not to. they are your opponents. the spell makes the summoned creatures attack your opponents. Intelligence has nothing to do with it...

Confirmed: Magic items and summoned monster stats in PHB

It isn't hard at all. Okay, sure if you want them to do anything other than kill your opponents then you have to be able to talk with them ala Speak With Animals. Other than that they just go and kill things that are trying to kill you. How hard is that? Dirt simple. And what exactly...
