Cleave - Automatic hits on 2nd target?

My only beef with this is not that it does damage, but that it *automatically* does damage and doesn't make any sense why it should. I can see combats where the big bad NPC is afraid of standing next to minions because he might get cleaved, but can go toe-to-toe with the fighter without much...

Cleave - Automatic hits on 2nd target?

That seems really stupid to me. You have an impossible to hit creature, so you place a weakling next to it and suddenly you can damage it? Despite the fact you weren't really aiming for it, your concentration is on the weakling? How is that not a problem?

Cleave - Automatic hits on 2nd target?

Reading through the Cleave power it says if you hit your main target (I think you have to hit, don' have books with me) then you also do 5 dmg plus strength or something on an adjacent target. I don't have the books so the above might be off by a bit, but my main question is does that adjacent...

Do all wizards have all cantrips at 1st level?

CoD also lasts until the end of your next turn, so two hits with it instead of one, and in the meantime you've cast a 2nd spell.

Death Saving Throws - Make a save = You live?

Thank you all. I'm nowhere near page 295 so I guess I better get reading. This was just really bugging me while working through the first pages and needed an answer. I have a game on next week and don't know if I'll be able to finish the whole book by then. Cheers!

Death Saving Throws - Make a save = You live?

If you are down to negative hit points, you make death saving throws. You fail 3, you die. Ok understood. If you make a save, does it mean you 'stabalize' like we did in 3.5, or do you keep having to make them until brought back above zero? Whoever knows the answer, could you point out where...

How to detain an Eladrin Rogue? ie, teleporting

With their at will teleport, I can imagine trying to put an Eladrin rogue in jail, or catching one. Let's say you've knocked him unconscious, the only way I can imagine you could keep him in a cell is by having him in a cell with no windows or bars. Otherwise he'd just teleport out. Other than...

Do all wizards have all cantrips at 1st level?

True, I saw that. I was confused by two things. First was 'choose two at will powers' for all the classes. The wizard cantrips are at will, so even though I was fairly sure wizards get all, I just wanted to double check. Second was the fact there were only two cantrips in the sample wizard in...

Do all wizards have all cantrips at 1st level?

LOL! Sorry I meant Magic Missile. Didn't have my PHB handy at the time. This 4E thingy is going to take some getting used to. However, the people who have actually played it and talked about it here seem to overwhelmingly agree that it's a :):):):):) load of fun. I can't wait to start off next...

Do all wizards have all cantrips at 1st level?

Cool thanks I thought so. Just curious though, where is it actually printed in the books? Actually I was surprised at how hard it was to dig up the rules on how many at will powers you can select. I found the chart fairly easily, but the 'choose two at will powers' for some reason took me a...

Do all wizards have all cantrips at 1st level?

In the PHB it says cantrips are class features, like the cleric's turn undead etc. I assumed this meant that all wizards have all cantrips available to them at 1st level. I looked in the KotSF sample characters and the human wizard in there only has two cantrips on his list. Is it that they...

    Smudges - All Core books

Has anyone heard anything about this recently? Is something being done to make sure the books that are being printed are proper quality (proper binding, proper sealing of inks?). I heard they are using thicker paper, but what about ink smudges? Is that being addressed? Last mention was 'the...

    Smudges - All Core books

I'm guessing then we have an odd occurrence. My own 3.5 books never smudged, and don't now. The 4th edition core ones I had, did. It seems there are different batches of books out there, both 3.5 and 4th edition. In a twisted way it gives me hope that my 4th ed books (the next set) will be a...

    Smudges - All Core books

Yeah same here, I didn't get any smudges with casual reading, only when I started to carefully read through the books. I hope you're right in that it's something simple like wet ink during shipping. I don't know, but if the next set of core books has the same issue I'm going to be *very*...

    Smudges - All Core books

Finally! I lost this thread so haven't been able to read the comments. Anyway back to the issue of the smudges. When I got my core book gift set it looked immaculate. There were no creases or glue issues of any kind. Nothing wavy etc. I used Amazon here in the UK. I'd had KotSF for a week or...

    Smudges - All Core books

I was very dismayed to find that the core book set I've been waiting for for ages now has a major problem. The ink smudges fairly easily if you place your thumb on it for any long period of time. Anyone else had this problem?

    D&D 3.x Problems with 3.5 I don't wanna see in 4th

Pretty sure you're confusing Devils with Demons. Demons have that Su ability, not Devils IIRC.
