New Use for Iron Heroes Battle Box!

I'll be in Ohio this weekend to see my Dad and to go to a wedding. While packing DvDs for my daughter I couldn't find the carrying case. But looking around I discovered something. The Iron Heroes Battle Box is JUST the right width for a DvD! And if you put the rules cards in they are just...

    Are monster types balanced?

Let's put aside the why of it for now. For the rest of this thread, if the reader asks why would you want to determine the exact balance of monster types? the stated answer shall be Because Vaar'uk, my Falcon Spirit Guide, has commanded that I do so if I am to honorably succeed in my...

    Are monster types balanced?

Well, that's the trick, isn't it? I have no objection to throwing an ancient spell-using red dragon at a 5th level party. What I don't want is creating a CR 5 monster against a 5th level party and have it be too hard or easy. For one encounter that's no big deal (unless it is a "lieutenant"...

    Are monster types balanced?

Fair enough. My goal: I'm trying to re-envision the way I think about monsters, what they do in the game, and how I end up using them. Part of this entails a deconstruction process. So I'm trying to evaluate how powerful these types are in relation to each other. -BG PS Yes, this is...

    Are monster types balanced?

That's not balance though. That's asking the DM/designer to correct an imbalance.

    Are monster types balanced?

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/typesSubtypes.htm#types Dragons obviously aren't. But they're supposed to be special. So why aren't monster types treated as a kind of template?

    Lulu thread at RPGNet . . .

You do give up a great deal of customization though. No maps, no CD inserts, no mind flayer centerfolds. Though, as someone who published a book with an insert, that might actually be considered a form of protection to prevent new print publishers from doing something crazy expensive.

Evaluate what this penalty is worth please

I wasn't clear, I was thinking of keeping the secondary attacks, but not the 3rd and 4th. So there would be no game effect until level 11. But I suspect you guys are right. Sigh. Back to the drawing board.

Evaluate what this penalty is worth please

If you use the fighter, cleric, or rogue BAB progression you get tertiary and sometimes quadrinary attacks. If you removed those from the game, what kind of attack bonus would you feel is adequate compensation? Is there some other kind of bonus you would feel is a good compensation? Thanks.

    eclipse/java help

Yeah, the property is foo. It's basically the "HelloWorld" program in eclipse using properties. For the life of me I can't figure out how to import a properties file that my application points to and I can't figure out how to do the equivalent of java bar -Dfoo=someData

Given: public class bar { /** * The program main. */ public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println(System.getProperty("\n" +"***"+ "foo")); } } How do I set "foo" to pretty much anything other than null in eclipse? The build.properties file, the arguments...

What if all skills were allowed as class skills for all classes?

It affects the accessibility of some prestige classes which can be problematic, especially for the bard and sorcerer. Other than that, I think it's a great idea.
