Do you tell pretty girls that they're pretty?

Quoted for truth. A great attitude almost always trumps great looks. (Both together is just wonderful!) I'll agree with most everything Rel has said in this thread. I'm lucky enough to work in a large office and interact with several dozen women on a regular basis. :) (It is a welcome change...

How much for 1 monster (with extras)?

I agree. Pick-n-Mix seems like a good place for most good monsters. Monsters that could become a major part of a campaign could be a separate stand-alone product with a higher price. I would pay more for something with the details of, say Ronin Arts' The Possessors. In fact I did buy it and...

    Your Gas Price

[obligatory rip] I could have told them what a huge disaster that storm was going to be long before it made landfall. As soon as they named it after my ex-wife... [/obligatory rip] :p -Dave

    It's the File

Some combinations of machine and OS cannot run newer versions of Acrobat Reader. Therefore, it would be nice to tag those newer PDFs which require AR6 or AR7. I'm not saying it would be worth it, just that it would be nice. -Dave

    Frozen Tree fortress..

Have fun with the environment. The first thing I thought of when I heard "ice" was "balance checks during battle." Have one area that is sloped with enemies on the high ground... with barricades for cover... moving upslope every round is slow and requires balance checks... and the enemies are...

    Dead Celebs - 2005

Man, my daughter used to LOVE those books. We must have had a few dozen of them at one point. I'd read them to her all day long and she would never get tired of them. I think she used some of them to help teach herself to read when she was three. :( -Dave

Does anyone else hate having their photo taken?

Quoted for truth! Excellent attitude, Henry. :) -Dave

Yahoo personals, Match.com being sued for fraud.

It is simply not feasible for a newspaper or website to verify every ad and personal posted. The amount of time and personnel required would drive costs out of sight. There will always be words to the effect of 'buyer beware' and the old adage 'if it seems too good to be true, it probably is'...

I want fuzzy dice hanging from my car mirror

For what it's worth, the EN World Shop at RPG Shop also has dice in it's plush section, and a portion of every sale goes to help support this community. :) -Dave

    Snow in Chicago

Yup. Grew up in Oneonta (not far from Syracuse), went to school in Buffalo and live in Erie, PA. I think I've seen most of what winter has to offer by now. Still enjoy living where there are four seasons. :) -Dave

    Japanese guy plays Pachelbel's Canon

Yeah, I did the same thing. Audacity is a great program. I use it all the time. I hear songs I like and buy them at Wal-Mart or MusicMatch or iTunes and then use Audacity to convert them to plain old MP3 for my vanilla MP3 player. -Dave

Yahoo personals, Match.com being sued for fraud.

Exactly. I know a several people who have found wonderful relationships through services. Heck, my ex-wife even found her husband through an online dating service. If not for that service, I'd have been paying alimony longer than I did. :) Online services obviously work to some degree. I...

I want fuzzy dice hanging from my car mirror

I'm sure other places have them, but I know I've seen them at Paizo Publishing's store. -Dave

Info from the 2006 May to August WotC Catalog

I noticed this as well. From dealer promo stuff others have seen, yes, it will be a 60-figure set and, yes, they are selling 7-plus-huge for the same price as they sold eight-plus-huge for last year. The speculation is that there will still be uncommon and rare huges, like before, but this time...

    Snow in Chicago

A buddy of mine worked in the DC area years ago. He tells the story of getting up one day and seeing a half inch or inch of snow on the ground and thinking nothing of it (he grew up in upstate NY and went to school in Buffalo like I did). He only recalled later that the roads seemed strangely...

    Snow in Chicago

Well, the big storm bands hit 30 or so miles north of here, we only got 3-5 inches or thereabouts. Lots of blowing, so there were virtual whiteout conditions yesterday at times, but not much accumulation. I feel a little disappointed because I sort of like big snowstorms, but I'm also happy that...

    Snow in Chicago

Yup, it's started already. There's been several times this morning when I could hardly see the buildings across the street through the blowing snow. It's just about noon Thursday now, and it looks like there's two to three inches on top of my car, and the winter storm warning runs through 5 PM...

I was skipping class... and now I'm not!

That happened to me too. I think it was Diff EQ (2nd semester calculus or 4th, can't remember which - it was a LONG time ago now) I skipped every class except for two where I showed up and took a test. I took two make-up tests (for two tests I had skipped) on the last day and the final the next...

    I need some work advice

Data Analyst? Hey, Welcome to the Dark Side, Curtis! I didn't think we spent enough time together at GenCon for me to corrupt you that much! Marketing, though? That really is the Dark Side. :p At least I'm under the manufacturing umbrella. :) Congrats on the new position and good luck...
