I was skipping class... and now I'm not!

I wouldn't have skipped class if TV stations would not pig-headedly keep scheduling all the good programming in the evening! Heck, I'll admit today was entirely my fault, but I was up 'til 2 am watching season one of Lost, and I had to come to work at 7:30. Ugh.

Only once ever did I stay up all night and then go to an 8:30 class. It was the last class of the semester, for my Arthurian Literature course, which I loved. Alas, it was an 8:30 am class, and I am totally not a morning person, so every day I'd be in class, wanting to pay attention, and ending up falling asleep despite my best efforts.

Now at least, at work, I have a computer, so I can keep myself mostly awake by browsing EN World for silly posts such as this.

GWU required a first-year mathematics course for business students (statistics didn't count). I was stuck taking Calculus for a second time after having already had it in high school.

What was worse was that it was in the evening, and it was filled with older adults who probably hadn't had a math course in 10 years. (Of course, now I am in that category, but I wasn't at the time, LOL.)

The first class I showed up briefly and informed my professor that I was going to skip the first class because I had tickets to see Dennis Miller in concert.

After that, I teamed up with another girl who had also already had the class in high school. We agreed to go to alternate classes and share notes, just to make sure we both knew what was going on. That freed up 1 night a week for each of us, and we both got an A. :)

Hehe. One time last year, I had a class first thing in the morning. I'd been up late working, and I wasn't feeling particularly good when morning rolled around, so I decided to sleep in a bit more. When I showed up at 1:00 for another class in the same room, I saw a sign on the door saying "PHYS310 is cancelled for <date>". I discovered I hadn't been skipping after all. :)

Hey, I skipped my one class on Monday this week for a bit of pumpkin toting. Nothing wrong with that. ;)

Glad to see everyone else has their priorities right, too.

Cheers,

That happened to me too. I think it was Diff EQ (2nd semester calculus or 4th, can't remember which - it was a LONG time ago now) I skipped every class except for two where I showed up and took a test. I took two make-up tests (for two tests I had skipped) on the last day and the final the next day and got a B in the class.

I had one class in college -- Mechanics of Materials -- where the professor would photocopy pages from the book, put them on an overhead, then read them to the class. Once I figured that out, after about two classes, I skipped every class except the exams. Figured I could read myself -- and got an A in the class.

Otherwise, I pretty much made every class.
