did anyone try the heroes of shadow preview at PAX?

Currently, at 5th level you can create 2 poisons per day from an selection of 3. However, some of those poisons can be applied to 5 pieces of ammunition. That's likely the case. Though giving out more uses (instead of limiting them as Dailies when they weren't good enough to be Dailies) would...

    Shadow Races up!!!

Way better than the Shade, of which I'd just house rule the racial to (when Klaus doesn't have NDAs to contend with and tell us his original intent). I like the flavor. Note quite human, but not quite revenant. A middle ground for DMs who dislike the rev race.

I'ma 7th level battlemind to be precise. Body Double. Quite handy.

did anyone try the heroes of shadow preview at PAX?

Unfortunately this sounds exactly like the class presented in Dragon magazine a few months ago. I say unfortunately because it can't come close to the damage output of the thief, or most other Essentials strikers. The only interesting thing is the out-of-combat poisons (the in combat uses add...

did anyone try the heroes of shadow preview at PAX?

A body of mine was there and played the blackguard. It seems mostly the same from DDXP but I didn't grill him for every little detail. I'll be able to tomorrow. It is a very cool class. Generates THP to burn up on other powers. Deals ongoing damage as a power strike mechanic. Has a Sneak...

    On shfting and jumping

I don't see why you can't jump while shifting. Under jumping: Update (4/8/2010) In the first line of the shaded text for Climb, High Jump, Long Jump, and Swim, replace “Part of a move action” with “The check is usually part of a move action, but it can be part of any of the creature’s actions...

    The Vampie Class preview

Just think, if you made this post on the WotC forum you'd be poisoned, stabbed, shot, hung, stretched, disembowled, drawn and quartered. And then get a textwall of why Vampire Warforged is why Essentials murdered countless children in the world...

    The Vampie Class preview

Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page - Article (Shadow Classes) It's Dexterity Primary and Charisma secondary. It is a fully undead class and as such, you gain alteration to your player race's origin (as you don't count as a living creature for any purposes that do). Resist...

Heroes of Shadow Table of Contents

But clearly, since HoS doesn't have a build for the PHB1 fighter, your argument is invalid.

Heroes of Shadow Table of Contents

The Shade race was previewed last month and are in fact their own race and decidedly underpowered as their racial is a standard and they have a racial penalty to # of surges ( -1 surge). Though it was just preview material. There's still likely a Shadar-Kai adjustment hiding somewhere. Either...

Heroes of Shadow Table of Contents

If anyone can help me out on this one, I'm almost sure I read somewhere that Shadowfell: Gloomwrought and Beyond will have some player content. I need to find the source where I read/heard that. If anyone knows or can find it, that'd be helpful. I'd assume, if there is player content in the...

Heroes of Shadow Table of Contents

Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page - Article (Shadow Magic) The new HoS preview interestingly has the table of contents at the bottom as a download. Classes = Assassin (executioner), Paladin(blackguard), Vampire, Warlock (binder) Class Options = Cleric (death domain)...

Dungeon #187 - first issue with 0 adventures?

I'm mostly avoiding this thread. Just not my deal, but I think the reason WotC is failing lately is poor management. I like a lot of the designers of 4th Edition. I like the guys in charge of mechanics. However, WotC is part of a larger company and large companies are caught in a turbulent...

    March and Beyond

Or, you know, just reflavor the mechanics however you want. Shadow Thief? Rainbow Thief!!! Shadow Hound? Sparkle Hound!! There are no inherent properties to a game of pretend. WotC is just using a new angle to sell a book (because the thought of Martial Power 13 seems drab and unappealing to...

which planar book should I buy: Manual, Below, or Above?

Plane Above (I don't have the others) is suited for Paragon - Epic. Most of the creatures are at least paragon level if I recall correctly. As someone who mostly runs HEROIC level games and encounters. I really bought the book because it's really well written and full of cool places and ideas...

Legends & Lore - Mike Mearls' new column

I'm not going to argue many points you made, but I think you're pointing out something you're not aware you're pointing out. The fact that a "do both" answer requires more manpower. Something everyone says WotC has been lacking for a while. I think the designers, like Mearls and the others do...

Rule-of-Three: New Weekly WotC Article! - Feb 14

It's neat. I'm not specifically sure this is magazine (or whatever whiners...erm, fans wanna call the magazines now) content as it's listed as "free". Also, I think it's not meant for serious questions, just one-off simple questions that don't need a WotC spin team to answer. Hey, at least it...
