    Alright, thanks for the help.

    Monster Battles

I think this is a pretty awesome idea. It'd be great to try as a break from a normal game. Thanks for sharing! :)

Ranger Atks and Dwarven Weap. Training

I have a player (a lvl 1 Ranger) who is using Careful Attack and Twin Strike. Their stated damage is "Hit: 1[W] damage (melee) or 1[W] ranged", and "1[W] damage per attack", respectively. He has the Dwarven Weapon Training feat, which states "You gain proficiency and a +2 feat bonus to damage...

6/30/08 update: Necromancer class (work in progress)

This could already be possible from the weblink you gave, but I can't get these two documents (Necromancer and Nec. Minions) to save in OpenOffice without some wonky formatting. Could you possibly put up a link for these as .odt files? Even .Doc will work, as OO can open those too.

House rule: any class, any skill choice

In my campaign, I allow my players to choose from the entire list for their skills, except for those gained from their class (cleric has to take religion, etc). By using class skills, you are pigeonholing your players into making cookie cutter characters. If the players as a group happen to not...

Warlock Critical Hellish Rebuke and curse..

Without the books in front of me, I'm not going to specifically answer your question. I've read in this forum that any and all damage dealt on a critical that isn't gained from the crit is maximized, and that damage dealt because of the a critical is not. So a +1 Longsword with 16 Str (1d8 + 3...

Two Complementary Systems To Reward/Penalize PC Encounters-To-Rest Ratio

Firesnake, I think the momentum system is a great idea. Not so keen on the other one. Screwing with the XP:loot ratio is something I try to stay away from, and is the only reason I find fault with that system. With the momentum though, there is none of that, and it is a great incentive to keep...

Awesome. Would you mind mailing me when you make the new thread? I'll forget otherwise.

D&D 4E Second version of Init Cards for 4e

Maybe in the Init/Class-level/Speed line, you could put a box for light source/vision type (normal, low light, DV if 4E still has it)?

D&D 4E Second version of Init Cards for 4e

Sweet. Love the grayed-out icons. A few things I would tweak: The init box, speed box, and passive skill boxes don't need that much space. You're only going to write down +x, so these can be shortened. The defense boxes could be shortened, if you wrote conditional modifiers in the notes. Not...

    OGL 3rd Party Setting Book

This is a great idea! I'd be willing to help throw out some ideas, and I imagine there are others on this board who would do the same. Are you looking for help at all?

Selling items : illogical rule ?

Since at least 3E, D&D's economy has been haywire. I really wish they could have made it more robust, but it didn't happen, so no big deal. I'm a big boy, I'll get over it. Here's how I plan on explaining the 100%/20% rule, at least until my players leave the material plane. Everyone who...

Making a high-level PC is hard!

One hour is nothing compared to what it used to take in 3.5. I had to limit all my characters to the main books + 2 splats just to keep things under control. I once made a 14th level wizard, and looked at over 20 splat books for spells... took me a week and a half.

    Starting a Gestalt Campaign.

I hate to rez a dead thread, but I have a question that fits well here. One of my players is set on playing a Gestalt Githzerai Druid//Monk/Warshaper (from Complete Warrior). I am using Rich Burlew's Polymorph rules (link at bottom), which state this about natural attacks: Attack: The base...

Whats the latest rules on how polymorph works?

Use Rich Burlew's Polymorph rules. They have worked very well in my game. Although they reduce the power of polymorph (which in my opinion is a good thing), they make it a lot more balanced in relation to the power of similar-level spells. http://www.giantitp.com/Gaming.html

    Starting a Gestalt Campaign.

Those are some pretty cool combos. I'll make sure to show them to my players. I don't usually allow psionics in my campaign, 1) because my own personal experience has seen them as overpowered, and 2) I don't have the time or energy to add psionic NPCs, psionic monsters, psionic items, and...

    My player is squishing everything.

Man WT Funny Hat: Thanks for all the input, I'll go down the list. Honestly, if a player wants to be 265 lbs with a medium-sized race, I see no reason to stop him. I routinely see people in real life out on the street that weigh more than that. And seeing as how he's a dwarf, 265 is really not...

    My player is squishing everything.

In reference to turn order, moving, initiative, pit traps, and all that jazz we've been discussing, I'm going to have to concede. Just not making sense to me :p. No biggy, I agree it is all up to DM interpretation, and we'll just leave it at that :). I apologize, they are not dimension stride...

    Take 20!?

What does everyone think of a tumble check replacing your AC for the AoO you are trying to ignore? So you roll past someone, make a tumble check, and that is your AC. How much of a difference will that make at low, med, and high level? At first I didn't think it would help at higher levels, but...

    Polymorph/wild-shape

Well I'll have to change it then, I haven't really dealt with polymorph or wildshape too often; my players are almost never druids, and don't often use polymorph. I can easily see barkskin working while PM'ed though, seeing as how it's a +enhancement bonus and not a set value of Natural armor...
