    WotC D&D Direct--Learn About Upcoming D&D On April 21st!

LuisCarlos likes to speculate about crossovers. Any and every potential crossover.

    WotC D&D Direct--Learn About Upcoming D&D On April 21st!

Weren't the delays largely due to Covid? Pretty much every film got delayed a year due to that, or got released on streaming.

MCDM monster book “Flee Mortals!” KS is live!

Yeah, it's typically smarter to set the bar low... after all, if you don't meet it, then the project doesn't get made. I assume MCDM picked that amount not because it's break even, but because they want a certain profit margin as well. Which to be clear, is their right; if they don't feel the...

    WotC D&D Direct--Learn About Upcoming D&D On April 21st!

That video was just referencing the Drizzt video game (I can't even remember it's name).

    WotC D&D Direct--Learn About Upcoming D&D On April 21st!

30 minutes seems pretty short. If it's just three things (Spelljammer book, video game, movie) I guess 10 minutes apiece is ok, but it's definitely a lot shorter than previous D&D Live events.

    WotC D&D Direct--Learn About Upcoming D&D On April 21st!

Yeah, the hamster, mind flayer, and beholder so prominent does seem like something... The Xbox controller being so prominent is pretty interesting. Wonder if there is a video game announcement or something?

MCDM monster book “Flee Mortals!” KS is live!

Although I don't have it and have just seen previews, I'll plug @Morrus and the Level Up Monster Book, it is in some ways a similar concept to Flee Mortals, and those previews looked excellent. I loved the design of the Green Dragon, and even thought the art of it was superb (like a dragon that...

D&D 5E (2014) New Capenna is releasing for Magic the Gathering... will it join D&D too?

There's been a bit of cross-pollination with MTG and D&D over the past couple years, with Ravnica, Theros, and Strixhaven getting D&D books launched a little after their card releases. The newest MTG release is New Capenna, where fiends of various types have formed crime families in the...

MCDM monster book “Flee Mortals!” KS is live!

You mean the Timescape? I believe it's essentially a different version of Planescape, more in line with things that Colville is most interested in (stuff like Elric of Melnibonne). Not too interested in that myself. Monte Cook has Planebreaker coming out, and D&D itself is likely coming out...

D&D 5E (2014) Is Dragons of Stormwreck Isle Based on the 80s D&D Cartoon?

I'm fairly certain that D&D/Hasbro have a pretty good, concrete contract with Paramount Pictures, and I doubt either party is interested in changing that. Streaming is always possible, but it'd go to Paramount+. Eh, maybe. Thing is a matter of tone to me. The box, and images, look mostly like...

D&D 5E (2014) Is Dragons of Stormwreck Isle Based on the 80s D&D Cartoon?

I looked this game up hoping for Shadows of Mystara, and got this instead... not my forte.

Yeah, it'll definitely hit $1 million. Good thing too, those lairs will be great! $2 million though... that may be tougher to hit, especially as there aren't any more stretch goals between the $1 and $2 million. If the funding degrades by about 40% per day (each day bringing in 40% less $s than...

D&D 5E (2014) Is Dragons of Stormwreck Isle Based on the 80s D&D Cartoon?

I'm probably in the minority here, but I think it's going to be an homage rather than a full "reboot" into TTRPG that some folks are suggesting. An homage in that the box may contain some pre-generated characters, that are essentially the characters from the TV show. And include some locations...

D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie: Game of Thrones, Princess Bride, Holy Grail, The Goonies

I won't lie, the line "I think it's going to be really good. I mean, who naughty word knows, but I think we got a good shot," does not instill confidence. It's part of actors jobs to help market a movie before release (it's in their best interest too for movies their in to perform well). So for...

D&D General The Problem with Talking About D&D

Yeah I guess "everyone" is an exaggeration on my part. I'd still say it's a minority, but yes there are folks who just assume everyone plays D&D "the one true way" which coincides to be the poster's preferred playstyle!

D&D 5E (2014) What a small industry 5e publishing really is, and WOTC are thieves.

The Op's post is kind of weird... I mean yes WotC is a "big bad money-grubbing company," owned by the much bigger Hasbro... but it's also made up of individuals. And I don't know Jeremy Crawford or Chris Perkins, but they're probably not wracking in a ton of more money personally than Ed...

D&D General The Problem with Talking About D&D

The interesting thing about Colville's video is that he is indeed, very very correct... but it's also not a super illuminating take? It largely boils down to "each table is different, so a lot of the rules aren't universally useful." Which I think everyone knows. I guess the most important...

Spelljammer Spelljammer Confirmed (MAYBE, April Fools?)

This is actually incorrect; typically they announce a new book a week before a book releases. Radiant Citadel was the exception to this. Why WotC does this I have no idea (it doesn't make much sense). And there are usually at least two new book announcements at D&D Live. The last big summer...
