    D&D 5E (2014) Nominate Today's Top Adventures for Use in 5E

1st: Curse of Strahd It's the best 5E adventure, and everyone knows why. A mini-setting with numerous adventure hooks, the book gives an option for a fairly linear adventure if the DM/players want it, but also is playable as a sandbox if they don't. The PCs can play in this adventure for a long...

D&D General Dungeon Magazine's Top 30 Adventures: Do they hold up?

I have not btw played or read all 30 modules, but I'm the OP so I should probably give my take on the ones I actually have; Played: GDQ1-7 Queen of the Spiders I've played the beginning of the giant series, read the rest... this is pretty good. Yes it's a series of dungeon crawls, but it...

EDIT: Wrong thread. Will put my answer to this soon-ish.

D&D General Dungeon Magazine's Top 30 Adventures: Do they hold up?

This is probably controversial, but I think Tomb of Annihilation is a far better adventure than Tomb of Horrors. It's final dungeon hits similar notes as ToH, but it's a lot more fair while still being "cruel." And of course, it's actually an adventure and setting combined, compared to ToH that...

D&D General Dungeon Magazine's Top 30 Adventures: Do they hold up?

Way back in ye' old 2004 on the 30th Anniversary of D&D, Dungeon Magazine published its list of the top 30 published adventures of all time. The list was dominated by classic TSR adventures from the game's earliest editions. Notably, only one adventure (The Dark Tower) was not published by TSR...

WotC Wizards Presents: August 18th, MTG and D&D announcements

Wizards Presents was announced for August 18th, where there will be announcements for both Magic the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons. Considering the two are being marketed together, seems likely it will announce more D&D sets for Magic the Gathering, but there may be an announcement of D&D...

What If Sauron Won? Check Out This Trailer For The MIDNIGHT RPG!

Edge also announced they're reprinting the older FFG Star Wars RPGs. Probably means we aren't seeing an EDGE Star Wars TTRPG for a while yet. https://edge-studio.net/a-new-hope/

    D&D General Why TSR-era D&D Will Always Be D&D

This is definitely true, though the OP is probably correct that some rules (or at least, their names) will stay possibly forever. AC is a distinct example, despite the reversal from THACO.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Will Delist Two Books On May 17th

Ah, so instead of replacing old rules it's really just adding rules from Tasha's... yeah that makes sense. Kind of makes a boring revision IMO. But I'm of the view that making sweeping changes is not good business sense, so will be avoided like the plague.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Will Delist Two Books On May 17th

Thanks! Found the video; "Completely Compatible" sounds pretty definitive, but I don't really understand if an old PHB still works entirely if there is a new revised one. Unless the changes are entirely in format and not in rules. I haven't completed the surveys they refer to so can't comment...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Will Delist Two Books On May 17th

Is there actually a quote somewhere that elaborates what the D&D team was thinking about for the new revised rules? I can't even remember where it was first mentioned.

    D&D 5E (2014) Goodman Games What's coming down the Pike for 5e.

Oh I agree, it's pretty rare. The only times it really happens is if someone has completely tuned out for whatever reason, and didn't plan their turn before it actually showed up. By now I've taught my players to plan out their turns during other people's turns (or mine), so it's pretty rare...

Spelljammer More Spelljammer Details Emerge: Spelljammer Academy, Flash Gordon, Light of Xaryxis

Yeah I can see scro and unhumans being scrapped. The Elven Imperial Fleet may just be refluffed into the organization leading the Astral Elves. This looks extremely imperial to me.

    D&D 5E (2014) Goodman Games What's coming down the Pike for 5e.

You're right, they would. But a delayed turn I think is not as bad a punishment as a timer appearing (IMO), so I think players would dislike this more. Mix of indecisive-ness and finding the perfect winning move (the two are kind of the same actually). I agree it's not important really to...

    D&D General 40 Year D&D Campaign

Wowie. I think that takes the cake against Mazes & Monsters. Which btw, Mazes & Monsters is actually a fantastic name for an OSR product and I'm annoyed I probably can't use it.

D&D General Do You Run Published Adventures, Homebrew Adventures, or Some of Both?

Published. For someone short on time, the outline of a module is invaluable. That said, I'm flexible around that outline in that I allow players to "explore the space" of material that isn't covered or not explored deeply. But the main conflict, NPCs and geography, that's from a module.
