    I miss CG

And how much better is unaligned? "Whee! I don't even have to follow Chaos if I don't feel like it!"

    Five Alignments?

Then those in charge of enforcing the laws must be given power, and since power corrupts, Goodness cannot actually govern. (Not disputing the point, just seeing where the logic leads.)

    Five Alignments?

CG as Optimistic Good, hoping that people will do the right thing, even without the laws there to force them to; and LG as Pessimistic Good, wanting people to do the right thing, even if they have to force them to through laws?

    Five Alignments?

Exactly. Demons may corrupt your body, devils your mind, but it takes a 'loth to corrupt the immortal part of a person - their soul. The changes to alignment are another of the many, many reasons I'm not playing 4e. Some of the mechanical changes make sense, and maybe even a tiny bit of the...

    D&D @ High Levels = No Problem?

This is the second campaign (Shackled City and now Age of Worms) my usual group and I have gotten into low-Epic (21-24). The math can be a major issue for some at this point, and it takes a LOT more prep work as a DM, but it can definitely be worth it, if you have a good idea of what to expect...

    Are Rituals Vaporware?

Does anybody else get the same feeling from 4e rituals that we did from the 3e announcements about Sorcerers? Like it's the last thing WotC will announce in order to A) keep hype high, and B) avoid disappointing people with an idea that while it sounds really cool in concept, will actually let...

    OGL Magazine?

That's the problem, though. It's only their games. I think the idea here is for something that's publisher-independent and yet still supports all (or most) OGL games.

    Why does WotC hate Macs?

It's all about browser market share. IE 7 - 22%. IE 6 - 30%. Firefox - 37%. Safari... 2%. (As of March 08, according to http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp) Hey, at least you're beating Opera! (I know, I know, cheap shot.)

    Warlord on Monday!

You know, even as a 4e hater, I have to admit, WotC's had a pretty impressive week. Good, content-rich previews, a more or less successful series of art previews, and actually wrenching the GSL free from the hive of scum and villainy that is Hasbro's legal department. And the Warlord on Monday...

    Seeking Hindi/Indian Adventures For Inspiration...

There's a bit of Indian flavor in Ruined Kingdoms, a 2e Al-Qadim box set, though it's mostly just generic jungle ruins/temples to forgotten gods type of stuff. http://enworld.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=16878&it=1

    Tiny PC races

Pseudodragons are ECL 4. 2 dragon HD and a +2 LA. A base Pixie is ECL 5, 1 Fey HD and a +4 LA. Pixies aren't very playable, if you ask me. Essentially a useless racial HD and a 4 LA leaves any pixie character way too far behind. Pseudodragons, though, at least have some hopes of keeping up with...

[BDP] Coming Soon From Blackdirge Publishing

Loved the Lesser Half-Dragon, so I can't wait to get the Greater one as well. Does it include anything for Epic half-dragons (Force, Prismatic) or just the greater age category core dragons?

What were the problems with 2nd ed?

Some of the problems with 2e were the same with 1e, with the mechanics not being as elegant as they could be, six or seven different ways of doing what were very clsoely related things. There were times when you wanted to roll high, other times when you wanted to roll low, sometimes you were...

Design & Development: Warlord Article UP!

Even as a 4e hater/3e fanatic, I kinda like this. Except the name. "Warlord" still sounds like a prestige class for a barbarian or fighter who's right on the front lines leading hordes of lesser warriors into the middle of the fighting, not a guy helping other characters gain advantages in...

Laptops at the Gaming table: worth it?

Between myself and the five regular players in my tabletop game, we have 4 laptops. Waaaaaay too many. Ideally, it would be 2. One for the DM (d20srd.org is a lifesaver) and one for the appointed mapper/note taker/treasure loot list person. Beyond that, they're just a major distraction...

Low Damage, High HP ... How is this "Faster"?

One idea that occurs to me is, what if Paragon and Epic paths have Sneak Attack dice that stack with Rogue ones? As in a Character Level 21 Rogue gets his 5d6 from being a Rogue, then 5d6 from being an Character Level 21 Assassin, and then 1d6 more from being a Character Level 21 of whatever...

Another Chris Perkins Interview - 4th Edition Realms

I get the feeling this is going to be like the new Star Trek movie: a tangent based on the original world we all know and love, but different enough that you can't really call it the same. Or at least you shouldn't be, but like that's ever stopped a marketing department.

mystery race : what would you hate the most ?

Tieflings already fill the angsty race quota. My money is on changelings, which I really dislike. Warforged would actually be ok in my book. One of the good ideas from Eberron, if way overused.

    Paladin Feat help

Divine Might is almost a must-have for any paladin, especially one in a party with a cleric. What else are you going to do with all those (essentially) worthless Turn Undead attempts? The problem, of course, being that Paladins can't turn undead until 4th level. For now, though, Cleave is...

WotC: Let's Improve the Weapon List, Shall We?

** Greatbow - Can be found in Complete Warrior ** Maul - Goliath Greathammer is in Races of Stone - 1d12/x4 ** Bolt-thrower for a big honkin' crossbow - 2 options, the Great Crossbow in Races of Stone (2d8, 18-20/x2, full round to reload, provoking AoOs, takes both hands to shoot or -4 to...
