or do nothing different and just throw fewer/weaker monsters at them

    D&D 5E (2014) House Rules Feedback

Congratulations, you've taken a game where most things are OP and made almost everything even more so.

D&D 5E (2014) Question on diagonal movement with minatures (or VTT)

RAW, the yellow path is correct. But the DM is always right.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is there a limit to falling damage?

20d6 falling damage used to be a lot deadlier in old editions. They keep pumping up player survivability and not increasing the damage from things like this.

D&D 5E (2014) Does your group use inspiration? If not, why not?

Never. I'm not going to reward players for doing what players should be doing anyway.

    D&D 5E (2014) EN5ider #339 - Mass Combat

You just said HP are casualties. Then you say routing is 0 HP. Death and rout are not the same thing. If you're cool with these rules, great. Use them. I read it. I don't care for it.

    D&D 5E (2014) EN5ider #339 - Mass Combat

Obviously. But it never bothers to say that. Also nothing on morale or routing. Basic stuff in any mass combat system.

    D&D 5E (2014) EN5ider #339 - Mass Combat

It says a company is 51-100 soldiers but has 20 hp. Immediately following that shows modifying the HP for tough creatures. So, it's not quite that simple.

D&D 5E (2014) Oh no! They want to play a "bad" adventure

I haven't read it or played it, but since you have a copy you might as well at least give it a chance. Maybe you'll change your mind. But you're totally entitled to tell your players, sorry, you're not interested in running it. That's what I did with Tomb of Annihilation.

    D&D 5E (2014) EN5ider #339 - Mass Combat

Yes I read them. Where's the info on casualties?

    D&D 5E (2014) EN5ider #339 - Mass Combat

Looks even less well thought out and tested than the Unearthed Arcana articles on mass combat. A whopping 5 pages, including cover page, pictures, and sample army list.

D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd - What am I missing? (Possible spoilers?)

For one thing he drains two levels with each hit in the original.

D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd - What am I missing? (Possible spoilers?)

As with everything else in 5e, Curse of Strahd was super easy mode compared to the original Ravenloft adventure.

D&D 5E (2014) NPC party competing with PCs

I use rival NPC parties all the time. Typically, I'll offer two tasks to the players. PCs choose one, NPCs take the other. Then maybe roll to determine if they succeeded or if the task is still open to the PCs. Sometimes when the PCs get sidetracked, I'll have the NPCs complete their task. Once...

D&D General Netflix pulls Community's Dungeons & Dragons episode over blackface concerns

This episode is the best. This is crap. They even address the blackface within the episode. A character being racist isn't the show being racist. Learn the difference.

D&D 5E (2014) How Long Is Your "Typical" Session?

    Typical 2-3 hours. Occasionally 4-5.

    D&D 5E (2014) Critical Hit Decks?

I made my own deck using the 4e one as inspiration, but included several other ideas of my own. With multiple copies of cards, you can tune it to your group's playstyle. My deck is around 100 cards, half simple things like drop your weapon, bowstring breaks, your backpack strap tears and spills...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the largest number of PCs you've had in a session?

I've DMed for everything from 1 to 10 PCs. Definitely prefer 1-3 most. Can tolerate 4-6. Will never willingly do 7+ again.
