Why is that every time a thread brings up the Realms people post a bunch a crud about how much they dislike the setting? Not cool...in any way. Everyone, like what you like and by all means, share the love. Just don't pee in anyone's wheeties, please. There's stuff that should be shared...

I've been interested in picking those up but didn't want to pay premium price for play-test modules.

I was more excited after watching this one than the 1st two.

To me, the hardback adventure paths don't seem like the equivalent to 12 modules...they may cover the target level ranges but they do so in an abbreviated, condensed format.

The closest thing I can think of were the Poor Wizard's and Joshuan's Alamanacs done for Mystara.

I'm trying to join the local Encounters group on Wednesdays. I'm on week 5 of that coming up. I also have an Edge of Empire game every other Sunday days and an occasional RPG/boardgame some Sunday nights. Honestly, this is the most I've gamed since 3E came out.

I'm 40 and like quite a few folks here I started playing in the 80s with the Red Box. I've been DMing since my 2nd game of D&D.

Surely there is some sort of medium between the ideal situation BryonD was talking about above and the minimal effort WOTC is attempting now? There is always room for improvement. With the possible exception of the surveys, I don't see WOTc even making an effort.

I loved the FASA system back in the day. Played a whole lot of that game back in middle and high school using fan conversions to update the TNG Year One Sourcebook to something more current. Great character creation and wonderful supplements but some of the mechanics are a little iffy viewed...

I did get a copy. I just took a little trip over to BAM. What I was told on friday at FLGS was strange, which was why I aksed about it.

Did Hoard of the Dragon Queen go out of print? I was in the local gaming store today and they were out. When I asked the owner about getting a copy for me he said it was out of print and I was out of luck. Is this correct?

What about the Council of Wyrms setting for 2nd edition D&D?

In terms of non-Wotc stuff I lliked: the Dragonlance stuff by margaret Weis' company, Green Ronin's Thieves Worlds sourcebooks, Fantasy Flight's Midnight setting, Sword and Sorcery's Scarred Lands, Sword and Sorcery's Ravenloft, Green ronin's Freeport.

I'm still confused by them setting the adventure paths in the Realms without updating the setting first. graves3141: I've been thinking much the same thing.

I'm curious about this topic too. Which settings are they going to support? What form will that support take?

In hindsight, I posted my thread without thinking and I over-reacted. My intent was neither to troll nor seek attention.

I thought this was interesting and useful. I had wondered what the comments on the podcast about world-building were in reference to. Perhaps this...
