need help on integrating size AC modifier into ranged accuracy

Depending on the weapon, that -4 per increment is still a better deal than what I came up with. :/ Although, from what I've read on my side about bow ranges, what came up was how the average archer tended to be comfortable in ranges around 30 yards, which is the longbow's 100 foot increment...

need help on integrating size AC modifier into ranged accuracy

This idea is still a WIP. Even I agree that -32 at that range is ridiculous. So no, I don't want to ultimately shut down ranged combat. The ultimate goal is to create a more organic penalty system than just -2 every increment.

need help on integrating size AC modifier into ranged accuracy

Herzog Thanks :) The .pdf especially looks useful since all the measures are the same system as D&D. Dandu Using the initial measurement from my first post, you'd get -32 to hit :D

Based on which rules? Vanilla PHB or whatever I'm trying to come up with?

need help on integrating size AC modifier into ranged accuracy

What do you suggest as an alternate penalty system, then? I understand you're correcting what you perceive as faulty logic but do you have anything to contribute in return?

need help on integrating size AC modifier into ranged accuracy

Then would it make more sense if the target got a different size modifier based on the weapon's range increment instead of a fixed distance scale? Taking the longbow as an example, past 100 feet is like shooting a small target, past 300 feet is like shooting a tiny target, past 700 is like...

Do you have a source to recommend for those GURPS rules? I wouldn't mind checking it out if it's as good as you say.

need help on integrating size AC modifier into ranged accuracy

I was looking for a different accuracy penalty system because I wanted to use the weapon's range increment for a damage penalty. Since, imo, a single arrow will be less dangerous out to 300 meters than at 50 meters even if it does hit. Of course, a new system should exist to replace the hit...

need help on integrating size AC modifier into ranged accuracy

Basically, Instead of using the weapon's range increment to determine hit chance, I wanted to use a fixed distance and implement the size modifiers instead. However, if I trust my improvised calculation, A Medium target would be Small at 10 ft, Tiny at 20 ft, Diminutive at 40 ft and Fine at 80...

Arthur pays for his ale along with a little extra. "You've been most helpful. And I'll be sure to take my time if your ale is as good as you say." He then gets comfortable and takes a sip from his drink. Do I take out some money from my character sheet or is roleplay money infinite? :)

would this custom Rapid Reload be too powerful?

I was talking about this post. Sorry but I don't quite understand what you mean in this post, which is why I was asking about how a repeater could possibly Full-Attack like every other weapon.

would this custom Rapid Reload be too powerful?

How can a repeater full attack like every other weapon? Even if Rapid Reload is applied, You still have to sacrifice a full attack on every other round to reload.

would this custom Rapid Reload be too powerful?

Why pay 250-400 gold for a weapon that: 1. needs a feat to even use? 2. can't do consecutive full attacks from lack of ammo? 3. has vastly cheaper AND superior alternatives? sure, the Heavy Repeater offers a d10 and 19-20 criticals but you don't even get 3 attacks per round on average. IMO...

would this custom Rapid Reload be too powerful?

10 round repeaters being strictly better is the exact idea. I mean, if you're going to dump 400 gold in a non-masterwork weapon, it BETTER be worth getting. Even better, imagine the repeater's results if you went for Rapid Shot. As for the Heavy Crossbow, being limited to 1 attack per round...

would this custom Rapid Reload be too powerful?

I think the real problem is that when they buffed up Rapid Reload, they forgot to adjust the repeater accordingly. If bolt cases held 10 shots like the real-life Chinese repeating crossbow, you'd be able to sustain the weapon's ROF well enough to make the weapon worth it (although the...
