Critiquing the Conjunction : Forked from the Great Conjunction

I've read through Deep Black, Eightfold, and one other one (don't have them in front of me right now) with Tarot Arcana in progress. Since I'm getting them mixed up, I'll write down some quick notes and post them up here later on. One thing I do notice between all of them is a trend towards...

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

I've already thought about continuing on with Ignition regardless. There's still much to be done and I've already come up with some new revisions to step it up a notch, but doing so through the Conjunction would make sense. The more input, the better.

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

Argh, why didn't I make time for layout too? Oh, yeah. I could barely finish the writing itself before the deadline. Just started downloading and looking forward to getting some reading done.

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

Thanks. I'm just a big fan of open-ended rules that are not bogged down by details. I have one player in particular who always says "Why does the spell only go five feet?" I built the game with him in mind. And now that I'm free from the bonds of Ignition (for now), I'm looking forward to...

    MESSY KILL - Voting Here

Hmm, perhaps I could set up a regular submission contest. Let me see what I can come up with and perhaps put a little more effort into it (such as a graphic and such). I can't exactly turn down two requests...

    MESSY KILL - Voting Here

Hard to say. Voter turnout was lower than most democratic countries, but I am keeping my ears open for anything else that would work for a later product. Those who did participate put forth some good effort, so it could simply require more planning and a wider shoutout for next time. But I...

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

While not fully complete, it is as much as can be given the deadline and time available to get 'er done. IGNITION: 2050 unveils the science behind magic. On January 27, 2037, a nuclear blast wiped out the city of Baltimore. Publicly declared a terrorist attack, the truth remains under tight...

    MESSY KILL - Voting Here

We used it in playtesting the other night and it worked out quite well. It's a skill challenge useful to pretty much any class that is trained to kill (which I think is all of them) and has some fairly practical uses. Given time, I'm hoping to come out with a few others.

    MESSY KILL - Voting Here

WE HAVE OUR WINNERS!!! Congratulations to both Segrada and Yalius for splitting the victory (and sharing the top prize). Both of them will receive all Dark Emerald products free for life, so if you guys can get in touch with me, I'll get that set up for you. Thanks to everyone else for...

    DM's Toolkit Program--NOW AVAILABLE!

Just tried to use the Mac version, but get constant error messages with the Jar Launcher. When I went looking up the details on how to fix it, I came up with this page... http://developer.apple.com/DOCUMENTATION/Java/Conceptual/Java14Development/03-JavaDeployment/JavaDeployment.html Looks...

    MESSY KILL - Voting Here

The way I see it, if all the authors vote for themselves, then it'll be an eight-way tie. It's no different than banning politicians from voting on Election Day, the way I see it. Good luck to all of you.

    The Messy Kill - A 4E Contest

Awesome stuff, gentlemen. Hope there's a couple more over the weekend before this section of the contest ends.

    The Messy Kill - A 4E Contest

Go nuts, however you want to present it. If anything, probably couldn't hurt to dress it up as a short story so long as it's true.

    The Messy Kill - A 4E Contest

I guess I'll go first. This entry will not be considered for voting and is provided simply as an example. It was Dark Sun, somewhere around 1994. We had been playing for a while and were pretty much into all of the TSR worlds at that time (except for Birthright, but that was just because...

    The Messy Kill - A 4E Contest

A sentry guard who sounded the alarm just before you could silence him; a lone warrior with a high AC and just too stubborn to go down; or a series of two or more natural 1’s in a row – these are just a few examples of some of the messiest kills you may ever encounter in your gaming life. To...

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

Exactly. Mine borrows heavily from 3.5 and 4e but with everything switched to opposing rolls. I've always been a fan of actively defending yourself and opposed rolls allow you to always have the possibility of fending off any attack, no matter how slim the chances. It also allows all players...

    Speeding Up Combat

I've been allowing the players to improvise and come up with other means of dealing with bad guys. The most common one is to use an Intimidate check to scare the crap out of them and possibly scare them off, even if only for a couple of rounds. I've also started treating bloodied opponents as...
