[Dark Sun] Need help with a character concept...

So, here's the thing - I'm working on a character for a Dark Sun game, and I don't know a lot about the setting. I played the original computer games (Shattered Lands and Wake of the Ravager), but that was years ago. But the real glitch is that I'm not allowed to read up on the setting. The DM...

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Redesign - The Wild Sorcerer

This is the first of several changes I plan to make to the core 3.5 classes. The ones which will be changing: Bard Cleric Fighter Ranger (Adding in and changing the CW Non-casting Ranger) Rogue (Adding a tree like rangers: Sneaky or Fighter type rogues) Sorcerer (changed to Wild Sorcerer and...

Does concealment allow a rogue to make a sneak attack?

Is having concealment enough to give an attacker a chance at a sneak attack? I ask because of the Cloak Dance feat from the XPH. Thanks, Calypso

Optional rule: remove class feature for a feat?

Cool, thanks for all the help guys. I showed my DM the rogue variant in UA where you can get feats instead of sneak attack, and he wasn't too keen on the idea. So, I'm falling back to plan b), which was to rename my Sneak Attack and only use it while flanking or with improved feint. Calypso

Optional rule: remove class feature for a feat?

Well.... I wish that that could be the case. However, you know as well as I do that that is impossible (hence the rhetorical wording of your question). If I just stood there and watched as the rest of my party fought some big-bad, I don't think I'd be very popular. Believe me, I'm open to...

Optional rule: remove class feature for a feat?

Well, he's basically a free-spirited gambler/swashbuckler/airship captain. (For those of you that frequent the WotC boards, I was the one asking for suggestions on building Setzer from FF6 :D) The build itself is Rogue 2/Swashbuckler 3/Fighter 1/Holy Liberator 3/Duelist 7. He's out to fight...

Optional rule: remove class feature for a feat?

Okay, I guess I was hallucinating. Basically, the reason I asked is because I have a character with rogue levels who is never actually going to sneak attack (character reasons). I thought there was some rule that would allow me to basically "give up" sneak attack in exchange for a feat. I was...

Optional rule: remove class feature for a feat?

Is there an optional rule somewhere that allows you to remove a class feature in exchange for a feat, or something to that effect? I swear I've seen it used before, but I don't know where to look. Thanks, Calypso

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Bladed Gauntlets?

I was vaguely aware of the fact that it used to be 17-20... but the copy I have says 19-20, so no worries :) Calypso

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Bladed Gauntlets?

I'm wondering if any sort of bladed gauntlets made it into 3.5. Basically, a pair of gauntlets with 2 to 3 12" blades protruding from the back of it. If not, I'll see if my DM will allow the 3.0 version. Thanks! Calypso

    Critique my Holy Liberator/Duelist

Well, I was considering it. Is it worth it? The numbers work out (barely).

    Critique my Holy Liberator/Duelist

Cool, thanks for the good suggestions. I would say grappling would be a problem, but he has a +39 Escape Artist, so that should be good enough to get out of most any grapple at this level. (Maybe not.) Elusive Target is nice.... hmm... k, I think I will just make the rapier keen. Thanks...

    Critique my Holy Liberator/Duelist

Level 16: Rogue 2/Fighter 1/Swashbuckler 3/Holy Liberator 3/Duelist 7 Feats: Dodge, Improved Critical, Improved Initiative, Iron Will, Keen Intellect, Mobility, Quick Draw, Weapon Focus, Weapon Finesse Str: 14 Dex: 18 (24) Con: 14 (16) Int: 18 (22) Wis: 9 Cha: 16 Fort: +18 Ref: +27 Wil: +17...

Hopefully, someone can find a rule that makes this not work.

I have a solution: If you're making an image of yourself and infusing it with shadow to make it partially real, then you (the caster) really have a chance of being blasted to another dimension/destroyed. ;) Calypso

Combat Exp., Fighting Defensively, and Elaborate Parry

    *bump* for more swashbuckling-ness!

    Good call, thanks :) Calypso

Combat Exp., Fighting Defensively, and Elaborate Parry

Do all three of these things stack? So, if I'm a 7th level duelist, I could take -9 to attack (-5 CE, -4 FD), for a +14 (+5 CE, +2 FD, +7 EP) to my AC? Also, are there any other feats/whatnot that fit into the theme of a defensively-oriented Swashbuckler? I'm considering Improved Combat...

    Request for help: Simulacrum

We've decided to use the entry for an adult Green Dragon and simply cut everything in half. The reason being, it doesn't make sense to have one set of rules for creatures with a predefined advancement progression and a different set of rules for those that don't. Namely, if I made a simulacrum...
