    Dread Isn't for Everyone

What's wrong with a cumulative dice mechanic? That seems like an obvious option.

Lol, that is exactly what I was thinking.

D&D General Getting A Realms Campaign Up And Running

You need a correction here. I think you meant to say: "This is how I start a convention game, not a long term campaign." Also, I find it somewhat amusing that you are basically telling Ed Greenwood that he's been doing it wrong. Different strokes for different folks, after all.

City of Brass - Boxed Set - Anyone Got Any Details?

After a few pages of introductory material, Book 1 starts with a four-page history and mythology behind the City of Brass and all of genie-kind. It centers around the first genie, Sulymon, who is created from a spirit as a servant to the gods. Sulymon goes on to create the rest of the genies by...

City of Brass - Boxed Set - Anyone Got Any Details?

Cool! I don't really know what the format is supposed to be for a "let's read thread", but I'll do my best :) Part 1 - The box contents https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/50045/The-City-of-Brass The DriveThruRPG link is to PDF and POD, but I have the original boxed set, so this review is...

City of Brass - Boxed Set - Anyone Got Any Details?

I'm fortunate enough to own the boxed set of this, and I've been re-reading it again hoping to get my current campaign into the Plane of Molten Skies and the City of Brass. I'm repeatedly amazed at just how much incredible content is packed into this set, from details of the city and...

Surprised at how monochrome the lineup is.

Pathfinder 2E The Golarion Role Playing Game

I think it's a great choice. Paizo spent 10+ years investing heavily in the setting and built a vast, rich cache of lore, and I'm sure it has built up a strong sense of identity with players. In some ways Paizo has been more about the APs than the rules, and the APs all about the setting come...

    Pendragon: A Game Design Masterclass

This is an outstanding article/review. Your description of the game sounds fascinating, and a game that I previously had no interest in now actually sounds like something I'd really like to try. The combat sounds both simple and elegant, and I can certainly see how the traits would lead to...

    Mad at Paizo?

Interesting, huh. Well, the drop-off between #1 and #1234 (the number I think I saw from darjr) is only a drop from 1500 to 600 books/month, which means PF2 has 40% of the sales of 5e. From what I understand, 5e sales continue to increase from its launch, so 40% doesn't actually seem too bad.

    Mad at Paizo?

According to the calculater, yes. But it's kind of weird, because even the #1 only gives 1500 sales/month. That seems low for the #1 best selling book on Amazon.

    Mad at Paizo?

Hah, maybe, but probably not. I'd be going from 3.5 to PF2. I bought the PF1 core book but didn't get a chance to play for the next 3-4 years due to IRL things. By the time I was able to play again, I felt more comfortable going back to 3.5. Although I own 5e and have played it a bit, I...

    Mad at Paizo?

I don't know if you're alone, but I'm not really feeling the anger. In fact, I'm pretty happy that they decided to start over. PF1 had long ago drifted far away from something I felt I could pick up, but PF2 means I now have a new, interesting option to check out.

Pathfinder 2E My Biggest Concern for Pathfinder 2e

Looking back at my post, I want to start out with a few disclaimers. I wasn't trying to claim one game is better than the other, or one game has problems while another does not. 5e has some problems that I see, and I'm sure PF2 will have other problems. That being said, some of the problems I...

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

The reports I've read have been on the Paizo forums. Here's one I found helpful, and here's another.

I'm right there with you. Tactically interesting combat is a big selling point for me.

Pathfinder 2E My Biggest Concern for Pathfinder 2e

You can count me as one person who really hopes the system is successful in the long-term. I haven't purchased the books yet (although I plan to), but reading some actual play reports of the finished game has me more and more interested in it. It sounds like a well-designed game that doesn't...
