    HEROES Vol 5 #7:Strange Attractors/Season4/09

I'm mostly with Hand of Evil on this one. I kind of feel like the only thing they remember from their first and best season was ridiculously slow pacing for most of the season. So in trying to recapture that feeling, they lost most of what made the show good -- interesting characters and...

    Castle

Indeed. My mother called me up later that evening to ask "Wasn't that the costume from that spaceship show you used to like?" Cracked me up to see him as Mal one more time, especially with the conversation with his daughter...

    Stargate Universe #5:Light/Season 1/2009

Yeah, I was really impressed on the continued -- but slightly faded -- sunburn on those from the planet. If you want to see a nice contrast, look at the Senator's daughter and Eli when they realize they're going to live -- she's as pale as ever, while you can see the burn on his face from the...

Why do DM's like Dark, gritty worlds and players the opposite?

And it's a fun one. You get a vicious little ratting dog! I kept one alive through the entire campaign...

    HEROES Vol 5 #6:Tabula Rasa/Season 4/09

My biggest issue was... Peter KNOWS Hiro is dying. So he gets the healing power and catches a plane home. Gee, maybe it would have made more sense to TELEPORT THE HEALER, get Hiro healed, then immediately take the kid home. If he really wants the healing power, he can take it THEN...

    Savage Worlds

I recently got my hands on a copy of the Explorer's Handbook and have run my friends through a few pulp adventures. It's been great, other than the binding starting to fall apart after three or four days. Most of the people I game with, though, are most interested in fantasy games. So I'm...

Tell me of your Arcana Evolved campaigns

I've had two long-running AE games. The first was a homebrew. All of the characters were from a magical academy (Magister, Mage Blade, Champion of Magic) and started out running errands for their teachers. An odd meteor had split apart, scattering magical rocks -- that strangely altered...

War of the Burning Sky (4e) -- Rhogar's Misfits

The last one when I wrote it up was kind of a giant wall of text. So this time, I produced the first part of last week's session, with the rest of it yet to come. I figure that they're a bit less bulky this way. Next write-up once I have a chance...

    Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I'm lucky -- my dwarf is a Slayer. He only wears armor on his arms and legs (pants and what we call Vambraces) because a hat would interfere with his crest and a chest-piece would obscure his tattoos... The one that worries me is the Sigmarite. I think his Toughness is around 40 now and he'll...

    Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I've been running what I laughingly refer to as a "Heroic" version of WFRPG for a while now with my current group. I call it that because I hand out money and experience a bit more freely than suggested in the default rules. I mean, the Priest of Sigmar can almost afford a suit of plate mail...

    WotBS WotBS Campaign Log

Okay, I'm cheating a bit by posting on this board, when my DM has asked me to avoid it. But I'm only here to post a link... http://www.enworld.org/forum/story-hour/259560-war-burning-sky-d-d-4th-edition-rhogars-misfits.html I'm trying my hand at the whole Story Hour game, but the DM doesn't...

War of the Burning Sky (4e) -- Rhogar's Misfits

Party Roster for the first session: Jaela -- Longtooth Shifter Warden (Wildblood). She's a space cadet, but OUR space cadet. Jedrek -- Half-Orc Barbarian (Rageblood). My character, hard-headed. Rose -- Razorclaw Shifter Druid. Wife of the Dragonborn. Don't think about it too hard. Rhogar...

War of the Burning Sky (4e) -- Rhogar's Misfits

Well, it's been a while since I tried to write anything, so I thought I'd see what I could do with the new War of the Burning Sky campaign. This obviously contains spoliers for that AP. :) To that end, I will be scribing up a kind of lightly fictionalized account of our sessions as I have...

    dazed with charging.

I guess we disagree on what qualifies as "high defenses" for that third category. :) Jokes aside, though, most of the Charge-heavy barbarians I've seen are built around Rageblood. In fact -- just realized this -- I have never actually seen someone play a Thaneborn barbarian. So my views are...

    dazed with charging.

Unless the player designed a *very* unusual barbarian, his defenses are terrible. Barbarians tend to be very tough, but very easy to hit. Especially when attacks go againt Reflex or Will. (Take with grain of salt -- if he's using a spear or a heavy blade, he *might* be okay on one of those...

    dazed with charging.

...unless the player is a barbarian, in which case you can expect "Shift + Charge" to be a little over half their turns. After all, several encounters, at least one of the dailies, and one of the At-Will selections can all be used in place of the Melee Basic attack at the end of a charge...

    Weapon for Goliath Barbarian

Mordenkrad. If you're a Goliath, it's pretty much the best way to go, since you're going to have the Con to pick up all the hammer feats. It has all the advantages of the axe, Hammer Rhythm is incredible, and that "Brutal 1" on a weapon that rolls 2d6... well, let's just say that I know of...
