Are you doing this to further along some sort of plot device? Does it really, really have to be a combat encounter? Can you turn it around into something interesting like orcs in (dire need such that only a 17th level party can handle) of help/rescue? Or possibly they can come to the party under...

Araumycos is pretty specific to the Realms, and I'm almost positive there are no published adventures featuring it. You really would be better off writing your own, or if possible taking a published adventure and inserting it in there somehow.

There are also adventure sites in the FR Underdark book that you could build on. That is, if you have that book, 32.95 is a lot of cash to plunk down just for a few pages.

Just one question and I haven't read the entire thread so if it's been asked forgive me. What happens if you put tons of time and effort into a campaign and they decide to stop it midway because no one is having fun? How would you feel about that?

You would be running combats all night in order to get them to use up enough resources to even blink at this. My brain gets tired just thinking about it.

Fly Dimension door, fly Control weather and other elemental nastiness The only reason to roll a save for any of that is in case of a 1, not to mention touch attack AC at high levels is usually pretty high.

Hi Maggot, You're wasting your time. A 17th level party could stand there and laugh at the party of orcs you described for dozens of rounds even if they did get a lucky shot in every now and then. Then in one round wipe them out.
