    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Wizard = specialist wizard?

There aren't any generalist wizards anymore. Every wizard picks a specialty school, but there's no penalty for the other 7 schools. There aren't opposition schools or anything like that anymore.

    D&D 5E (2014) Eldritch blast and Invocations

Agonizing blast applies the bonus damage every time you hit with eldritch blast. If you have four beams, you add your Charisma bonus to each one that hits. The same goes for repelling blast. If you hit 4 times, you can push them 40 feet.

    D&D 5E (2014) Let's list the "broken" spells

It is a problem when the large majority of creatures don't have those workarounds. Even creatures with magic aren't likely to have the exact couple of spells that will work (i.e. disintegrate).

    D&D 5E (2014) Let's list the "broken" spells

I don't know if it really counts as "game-breaking," but there doesn't seem to be any way short of true seeing to defeat Nystul's Magical Aura. Most illusions let you make a saving throw or an Intelligence check to see through them. This spell doesn't.

D&D 5E (2014) I LOVE 5th Editon... BUT... (Why No Simple Table of Rituals?) And Other Little Quibbles.

I too love 5e, but the spell index is just awful. Would giving brief descriptions of the spells, organizing the wizard spells by school, or denoting with little M's and R's which spells use expensive material components and are rituals, respectively, really have been so much to ask for? I also...

D&D 5E (2014) Thread: Your thoughts on the 5th. Edition Player's Handbook classes?

The sorcerer and warlock were only briefly in the public playtest (in the 08/17/12 packet), and then we never saw them again.

D&D 5E (2014) Thread: Your thoughts on the 5th. Edition Player's Handbook classes?

Barbarian: I never really liked barbarians, though the totem warrior does seem kind of cool. Bard: I don't really like that it has 9th level spells. Also, the bardic music buffs don't seem very good compared to cleric spells like guidance and bless. The ability to pick some spells from any...

    D&D 5E (2014) I love the 5e Succubus

I like that they also included the Incubus.

D&D 5E (2014) Does Anybody Think Monsters Have Far Too Much HP?

A CR8 Hydra may have 172 hp, and that sounds like a ton, but a typical 8th level fighter can deal 19 avg. damage per round if he hits with both attacks. A 5 person party doing that kind of damage could drop that hydra in as little as 2 rounds. Even if they miss with half of their attacks, they...

    D&D 5E (2014) Animal companions

You could just allow the druid to take the beastmaster ranger subclass, replacing circle of the land or moon.

    D&D 5E (2014) There's one thing about 5E I don't like...

You can learn new tools and languages during play. I would be surprised if there weren't options for doing that with skills in the DMG.

    D&D 5E (2014) Unfortunate Wording

I doubt wizards will be able to create scrolls that have cleric, druid, etc. spells on them. That means that the only way the wizard will be getting them is if the DM allows it. I don't see any real potential for abuse here. Why is it lessened? The thief can use any scroll without having to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unfortunate Wording

I think it's a good thing that people can attempt to use scrolls of spells they otherwise couldn't cast. It makes Intelligence and Arcana valuable. It also means that the DM doesn't have to worry about giving the party scrolls for classes that the party doesn't include, rather than the players...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Flumph!

    I want a flumph familiar.

D&D 5E (2014) [Guidance] What, +1d4 to every check ever?

That's clever, but it seems to me that if you've managed to trap an enemy in a stone room, you've already won.

D&D 5E (2014) [Guidance] What, +1d4 to every check ever?

I didn't mean to give the impression that guidance applies all the time to every single check. I am well aware of the fact that it doesn't. But it does apply a large majority of the checks that players make outside of combat. The rogue picks a lock or disarms a trap. Guidance. The fighter...

D&D 5E (2014) [Guidance] What, +1d4 to every check ever?

The designers aren't perfect. No apology necessary. I was nit picking. I told my players to just add the 1d4 and that there was no need to have to keep announcing the spell constantly, but that still doesn't resolve all of my issues with the spell. I still think it's too powerful for a...

D&D 5E (2014) Your favorite and least favorite things :)

Favorites: Overall simplification of the rules Bounded Accuracy Advantage/Disadvantage Backgrounds Spellcasting (preparation and slots being separate, spells scaling with higher slots, at-will cantrips, rituals, etc) Subclasses (The arcane trickster and wizard school specialists are particularly...

D&D 5E (2014) [Guidance] What, +1d4 to every check ever?

That feature is one of the things that sets bards apart. A cleric shouldn't be able to imitate that most of the time with a 0th level spell starting at level 1, IMO. No one ever said it was an auto-success. My dislike for the ability has far more to do with the annoyance of having people...
