    D&D 5E (2014) Best Gish

Holly cow. That's two booming blades and an extra attack, all with the same weapon. The only real problem is that the two booming blade attacks have to hit to different opponents. Which does slow it down. Cool though.

    D&D 5E (2014) Best Gish

There have been a few discussions about "best Gish" hidden in other threads, but given that I strongly prefer to play casters who can hold their own in melee, I thought it would be fun to see what folks prefer for their fighter/caster. Without multiclassing, I'd say you've got the valor bard...

D&D 5E (2014) What Makes the Fighter Best at Fighing?

I'm surprised Indomitable is on your list. I view Indomitable as very (very) weak. It's a highly limited version of a feat (lucky). More restrictions on use and only usable once (at least until quite high level). A single ASI (to _get_ lucky) is at least 3x better. Am I missing something...

    D&D 5E (2014) No Feats Allowed?

Eh, as others have noted A) Most people don't take feats until 12th level, so other than alt humans it doesn't matter much B) Except fighters. Fighters get hit hard. Once STR or DEX are maxed, increasing other stats doesn't help all that much. I'd not play a fighter above level 7 in such a...

D&D 5E (2014) Which feats would you change, why would you change them & how would you change them?

Lucky is, IMO, one of the best combat feats in the game. Save it for when you get critted or hit by a spell that takes you out of the fight. Both huge. Especially if you are, like many folks, having 3-5 encounters per long rest.

    D&D 5E (2014) Starting Above 1st Level: Gear

I have. Level 1: Standard starting Level 2: Standard plus 200GP, including potions of healing as desired. Level 3: As above, but 400GP. Level 4: As above, but 1000GP and can buy uncommon scrolls and potions. Pricing is 200GP for any uncommon one-shot. Level 5...

D&D 5E (2014) Could SCAG be power creep?

Ouch, missed that. OK, that sucks.

D&D 5E (2014) Could SCAG be power creep?

Why the bladelock? Do you mean because one could cast one of the new cantrips rather than take two attacks? Yeah, that does hurt a bit and I'm not sure how to fix it. Bladelock is already weak compared to the tome...

D&D 5E (2014) Could SCAG be power creep?

It actually is neat, but it's just under powered--at 3rd level you gain the ability to heal 3 people of 3 hit points 1/short rest. I mean that _can_ be huge if they are all down. But once you've done that, you're done. And most of the time, it's "eh". I'd add the following: 3rd level...

    D&D 5E (2014) Booming Blade seems a bit powerful

As I said, I've seen rogues pretty commonly use their cunning action to move around. So if you are planning on doing that in a given round (because you need to get out of melee or die for example), it's also worth it. But I do like the rapier and shield bit too.

D&D 5E (2014) Could SCAG be power creep?

Actually, I'd say mostly the subclasses are weaker than the PHB. And most of the crunch is SCAG is also par or below par IMO in the general case. But as Psikerlord says, more options create more possibilities. For certain games, some of these will be quite powerful. I'm going to discuss...

    D&D 5E (2014) Booming Blade seems a bit powerful

It is very powerful for a rogue. Probably worth a dip into an arcane class after level 5 rogue. Or maybe taking a feat to get the cantrip. I think it's moderately weak for everyone else. a) Most casters aren't going to have a particularly high STR or DEX, at least compared to their...

    D&D 5E (2014) Not liking Bounded Accuracy

So there is no reasonable way a PC navigator can be skilled at navigation? Or more skilled the the team wizard? If my background is that I'm a 30-year old who has been navigating a boat for years (and that was my last PC's background...), it makes sense that a random wizard in the party will...

    D&D 5E (2014) Not liking Bounded Accuracy

It's actually intra-party stuff that bothers me. Say a character has a skill in navigation (navigator's tools). In general he's only slightly more likely to be successful navigating than any other character. And a wizard will generally be better than the "professional sailor" unless that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Not liking Bounded Accuracy

I like bounded accuracy but feel that the prof. bonus for skills should matter more. I'm fine with combat for the most part, though I find saves a bit problematic (too hard to make at higher levels unless the save just happens to go against a stat you've maxed and a save you are prof. in)...

I was told at a convention that there was some ruling about potions and concentration (on twitter?) Anyone see this?

    November's SAGE ADVICE Is Here!

Yep. Given that the RAW don't specify that, I suspect that the author of the assassin wash't aware of that. I'm not certain _anyone_ had really thought about it. Just played AL with 2 different DMs this weekend. Neither ran surprise this way. I mentioned it to one and his basic response was...
