I have to agree with Snow. There's always room for improvement, and at the same time, a lot of what will need errata will also be easily interpreted and/or modified with a little common sense. I'm also pretty sure they're on the ball as far as the production schedule is going, no matter what...

I agree, except that I think Defilers should be the baseline. Defiling is the norm for Darksun mages (at least that's how the fluff made it sound), and Preserving requires you to be more careful and hold back, weakening yourself so as not to destroy the environment further. That being said...

REH's stories are about the battle between civilization and savagery. Civilization will lead to decay, corruption and corpulence if it doesn't receive a nice injection of savagery from time to time. They're also about gore and t*tties.

Does that really matter? New edition, new rules and all. Also, by the time we see Ravenloft or Strahd, we may already have a dedicated necromancer class.

It's still too early to say that all races will get +2 to two stats. I think it's probable, but we don't know for sure. We're also pretty in the dark over how exactly characters will gain skills and feats, so we really don't have much to go on when talking about how they'll balance humans...

Gish is a fighter/mage. I have no idea about the term's origin. Arcane Defender is a combination of power source and combat role. In this case, Arcane means arcane magic (like wizards), and Defender means tough melee fighter (like a fighter), so it's a guy who uses arcane magic to be a tough...

It could really work with D20 Modern if they played to the game's "there is more to this world than you ever imagined" angle.

It doesn't help that the ethical spectrum has always felt secondary to the moral one. For example, Paladins have been discouraged from adventuring with evil characters (when not downright disallowed) but not chaotic ones. I still liked D&D more than other systems I tried.

Some of it also can be from Gnomes becoming sort of the "rallying cry" for the people who are dissatisfied with 4E. There are people who will latch on to any reason to decry something, even if it really wouldn't matter to them otherwise.
