Some other video I think make it all pretty clear. Ads = Money. CR charges a lot for Ads. Wizards has Money. CR is a company, and wants (needs, thanks to their production values) Money. The world turns on a few basic things, and money, is one.

That was my expectation, and prior 'late stage 5e' experience. I dont think attrition really is the modern D&D game.

For those playing 5.5 does it really feel like an attrition game anyway? 5.0 didnt to me.

Oh, another thought I had, looking at my SD book. If I were to do this, I would put it all (PHB/DMG/MM) in a single A5 book. The Daggerheart book is nice and all, but I find those full size books unwieldly now.

I cannot speak for Micah, but I believe that when Wizards does things in a 'modular' manner, they are not fully integrated into a cohesive system. Optional rules are also very often the first ones forgotten, dismissed by certain DMs, and just add clutter/confusion to the table.
