1. You all failed pretty hard at understanding the point of that thread.
2. I am increasingly sure that the property I had slip through my fingers a few weeks ago was BRUTALLY under market value. I'm still gutted.

deep breath

No no, you dont get it. This was 5 acres, of treed, FULLY treed, private property, literally 60 seconds from one of the most beautiful lakes in British Columbia. Mountains surround you. Rivers and waterfalls were within hike range. This was terminally undersold. Like I may never get over this. Ever. I laid awake that Sunday night thinking 'this could honestly be the legacy I leave to my family' and its gone. This was within driving range of my extended family, this could have been a vacation spot, a sanctuary, for my whole extended family whenever someone needed it. NEVER will I find something like this again, south half a million, if not more. Gutted doesnt do it justice. I'm still sick over this.

Everyone has stories about ones “that got away”. The only difference is magnitude.

And dude, that’s a BIG one.😔

I find the current Puma ads deeply disturbing. Glorifying dangerous practices like training while injured and running with a baby in a carriage...

The more I look around, the more insane it is. I'm going to have to convince myself that it didn't go for asking and went for triple and I was priced out lol
There is a very good chance it was never a real listing.

There are a lot of market speculation games going on in the real estate market by huge US banks. And since their reach is worldwide, the effects will be felt elsewhere as well. Some of the listings that look too good to be true are just paper transfers, where a property is exchanged from one business unit to another. It keeps the property market hyped and overvalued, which keeps the other bank-owned properties in the same area at high value.

I am not a money guy (I loathe being in debt) so I don't know exactly how any of it works, but they've been doing it for a while in the US, and our housing market is a shambles. I bought my very small townhouse in 1999 for $170K, and it's easily over half-a-million in value now. The neighborhood hasn't appreciably improved or degraded; it's all artificial inflation.
