    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

Just because I can't see you does not mean I don't know you are there, it just means, I don't know where you are exactly. As a counter point, just because you can see me, does not mean you know what you are looking at.

So we have established that you do not understand how stealth works or combat initiative apparently.

So you are saying there is a freebie round before combat, good to know, I am sure my DM will not laugh at me when I suggest it.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

I very strongly disagree Just because I can't see you, does not mean I don't know you are there, and just because I don't know you are there, does not mean you can surprise me, just ask any Combat Vet. The rules around the Alert feat specifically and literally say the character cannot be...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

LOL, Its not my fight, I was simply watching this Monopoly game from the sidelines.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

I very strongly disagree A saving throw is an active defense mechanism, the target is actively resisted it, the caster just tried to literally and forcefully change the shape and composition of the targets body, how would they not notice that? If the caster is trying to use Dominate Person, he...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

Interesting point, if a character has to make a saving throw, regardless of what type, he knows something happened and subtle would have no baring on that. I could make a good argument that even a 1st level wizard would know someone is trying to polymorph him.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

Dude, I love these stories, it is the only reason I keep coming back to this thread.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

That is fine, I can create a 60 story tower out of thin air, which would be a very big surprise to someone flying around in thick cloud cover, as a side note, 660 feet is about 55 stories. Control weather would not be an illusion, so he can't see crap. I am pretty sure I can come up with other...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

I would be perfectly okay with a ruling that True Sight allows them to see through the Illusion, does not matter, they still have to go around it and even if you know its an illusion and can see through it, the sorcerer is not the intended target. The idea is he either burns spell slots or he...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

Running on the assumption that he has to come out of his hidey hole to actually find wizards to kill, his fortress is useless to him, otherwise he is not a threat to anyone, let alone Foggy Bottom. Mirage Arcane is a very specific kind of illusion and states in the spell description that True...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

LOL, brilliant, while he might have True Seeing, keeping it going would cost him resources, that he will not then have for the fight to come and his minions would have no such advantage, so his CR 3 Megan would all be gibbering idiots in 3 turns.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

Plus the Illusionists have not come in yet. His whole strategy is based on him auto killing on the first strike. Illusionists are notoriously hard to hit on the first try, his 600 foot strategy would actually work against him and he would not even know he was fighting an illusionist until it was...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

Exactly, this is more like a rigged Monopoly game than it is a D&D game, where he gets to start with double the money and collects double the rent, while opponents start with half the money, and collect half on rent. More than one person has said, these sorcerers are DMPC's not real characters...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

Everyone keeps trying to tell him that, but won't listen. He does not understand basic concepts of the game like resource management, action economy, or even basic things like Stealth does not work when you are standing out in the open in broad daylight.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

The best thing to come out of this thread has been the development of Foggy Bottom as a suburb of Candlekeep. I wonder if Ed Greenwood is accepting submissions.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

Does this apply to the sorcerer when he is on stage giving his telepathic speeches about hate and bigotry towards wizards? I am asking for a friend.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

THIS! +1 I have been saying for days. I have nothing against sorcerers either, I have played the class, I just don't believe they are the end all and be all of D&D 5E game play theory. This mental exercise is mildly entertaining, but at the end of the day, it is not D&D, it is more like cowboys...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

To be fair to the OP the focus of the conversation changed. These theoretical PvP challenges are all fine and dandy, but do not really translate well into real ongoing games with other players. Okay sorcerers are great, but I don't want to play just sorcerers for the next 20 years. My...
