Remembering Gary Gygax on his B-Day

I would like to remember Gary Gygax as a man who helped give us a hobby that has let me meet friends and have hours of fun with them. I was fortunate enough to see him at various Gen Cons over the year, and chat a few times. He always struck me as being ready to talk to the average gamer and...

What Makes Gaming Books as PDFs Desirable?

PDF files are much more portable than books. This is a great advantage in running events at conventions or any place other than your own home.

    All Hail the Mind Flayer!

I had a character who once taunted a mind flayer foe by saying that he wondered if mind flayers would make great dog food. Fortunately, the party defeated the mind flayer and his allies. (As a matter of taste, I did not make mind flayer dog food. Now, I can't speak for the rest of the party....)

    History: Forbidden History

In addition to the Golden Bough, I suspect that Gygax learned about many different mythologies and saw commonalities.

Pathfinder 1E What project would you like Paizo to tacke next for Pathfinder?

Perhaps one of the best choices for a mega-city on Golarion would be Absalom, although there is an excellent supplement on it now.

Chicago Gameday 26 is June 12th: sign up to play!

Thanks to Curt and everyone at Games Plus for being such gracious hosts, to Buzz for organizing, and to all the GMs. I enjoyed J.D. Skach's game and was glad to see every one.

Chicago Gameday 26 is June 12th: sign up to play!

I won't be able to make it in the morning, but I can be there in the afternoon. (I might be able to show up late in the AM after a test.) Sign me up for Afternoon Game 3: BattleMasters. I am looking forward to seeing everyone.

    New to this, some questions

I would also suggest checking out Pathfinder Society games at a local hobby shop. You can even use a pregenerated character and join in. It is a great way to get a feel for the system.

D&D 3.x 3.5 E, older D&D and Pathfinder. What do D&D vets think of pathfinder

Currently, I am playing a wizard (diviner) in the Pathfinder Society Organized Play games at a local hobby shop. I am enjoying the system, and it does feel a lot like 3.5 but with a lot of interesting changes. I like the fact that there is a lot more variety to the classes, and that many...

Chicago Gameday 26 (6/12/10) Planning Thread

I will not be able to run anything this time, as I have a test in the morning. I will try to make it for an event in the afternoon. I know that we have a lot of good GMs here, so feel free to step up to the plate.

    Whatever happened to Necromancer Games?

Hasbro is interested in holding on to valuable properties and making money of it, either through new products, tie-in ventures with other companies (such as video game licensing), or through merchandising. I doubt that Hasbro would ever sell WotC, as the collectible card games (the core of...

Do you know of a great FLGS?

I added Light Speed Hobbies in Portage, Indiana. Okay, Chicago and Northwest Indiana EN Worlders, I KNOW that there are a lot more places that we can add to the map.

Pathfinder 1E You're the CEO of PAIZO. Now What?

I think that an introductory product, similar to the old D&D boxed sets, might be good. Perhaps have some bare bones rules, character examples, and an adventure. Design it so that it can be compatible with the Pathfinder RPG and maybe just go for a small number of levels -- perhaps five...

    Spam

I found some spam here -- http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/273584-5000-per-week-job-free-why-not-look.html#post5123472. Personally, I prefer the Monty Python variety.

    AD&D 1E 1e->3x->Pathfinder Bard Prestige Class

I heard a few people refer to it as beserker with a banjo. The problem was, I believe, the hit points. Apparently, most everyone ADDED the 10d6 bard hit points instead of the way dual classing was done with humans back then.

Chicago Gameday 25 is Feb 27th: SIGN UP NOW!

Thanks to Buzz for organizing the Gameday and the fine people at Games Plus for being such gracious hosts. I would also like to thank my players for a fun morning game, even though we had some last minute cancellations. Thanks to Chgowiz for his old style event which was a lot of fun. I am...

Chicago Gameday 25 is Feb 27th: SIGN UP NOW!

Buzz, if Nev is giving up his table, would you like me to run another slot of Keep on the Borderlands? This way, we are covered with an event. (I am still surprised how quickly the first slot opened up.) As Ronin84 expressed interest in the earlier event, maybe he would want to check on a...
